Stock, street-legal cars the general public can buy, just modified enough to remain safe for drivers at racing speed. Set a cap on how much the factory car can cost at MAX (options included).

Now THAT is a Kinja post!
So I was coming out of work one day w/ a car-loving coworker friend and we heard this rumble in the parking lot. We looked all over but couldn’t figure out what it was. Finally, we pass an Abarth idling and both us start laughing our asses off! It sounded so damn good but the car was so small! As we were laughing, the…
Am I the only one that doesn’t find sliding/drifting a car that much fun??? I’ve always preferred grip, like I’m riding on rails and the car is glued to the road. Maybe a hint of oversteer when I press the throttle mid-turn, but that’s about it.
Very rare combo. My first GTI was a 2015 S w/ manual, PP and lighting pack. Yes, it was a 4-door, but hard enough to find. In all of the DFW metro, there was only two! One was used w/ a weird history from Michigan and VERY early production build (I’m guessing it was a press model; so many car mags in MI, and the…
Somebody got triggered! lol
BTW, you can tune this one! There’s a ThrottleHouse (criminally underrated YT channel) where the drag a tuned one. It’s somewhere in the neighborhood of 800hp and 900tq. Almost does a wheelie!
Came for this, leaving satisfied. Yum!
Neutral: Purchased my 2nd GTI about 2 weeks before the shit hit the fan. Was furloughed a month later. Dealership experience was typical, ie annoying.
None. All that matters to me is who builds what I want/need for whatever stage of life I’m at. Couldn’t care less about the badge. (Excluding GM, particularly Chevy. I’ve an irrational disdain about their products.)
That’s surprisingly friggin’ awesome!
Damn right! Unless it’s body-on-frame and can cross Africa, just buy a minivan, or wagon.
I agree. For the type of car it’s meant to be (backroad, weekend warrior), lack of power just kills it for me. I need some fizz in my belly when hitting the accelerator. This car has none.
Used to be in this boat. Then the Mk7 happened. That car was a revelation. It’s such a brilliant combination of sportiness, comfort, practicality and space in a small footprint, economical yet quick enough, excellent interior, great seats. All for under $30k (if you buy the right one).
Unless you get 1000 interesting stories out of this, it’s a bad buy.
Can we get one of the new people to do Morning Shift? Raph and Schill are miserable at it, pretty much hate cars and insert their moronic POVs at every opportunity. It’s gotten to the point I only click for the comments- which are frequently just ripping on one of these two.
Still have an irrational love for these since my older brother had one years ago. So sexy. And that blue!
I knew this comment would be here... For many, the only thing that keeps them motivated to finish the school grind is a sweet, sweet reward at the end. For some, it’s an extravagant vacation, or an awesome home theatre or, in this case (as was mine), a dream car.
This is way too accurate. Anytime I see one up ahead, I know it’s time to change lanes, cuz they won’t! And it’ll be 10 under at least.
My Dad, my Dad, and my Dad. As a kid, he would always talk about the “rear-end” of cars. Always saying things like, “He can’t get traction, they need to replace the rear-end.” As a kid, that would just confuse me! Replace the bumper? The whole panel section? What??? Later, as an adult, I realized he meant the…
