One important point: the drivetrain is 100% stock. So many people modify these cars and then blame the car when it goes boom.”

I can’t help but notice that the seller is pretty specific about the upgrades, but then just says “16v”. There’s a bit of difference in power (and value) between a 1.8 16v and the later 2.0 16v. Hanging the big bumpers on there to make it look like the later engine without saying it is the later is a red flag.

Dealers, I have a car to sell. It’s in high demand and very desirable. Perhaps you can meet me at the location of my choice? I’d like to develop a relationship with you. We can sit down and talk about how much you can afford to pay me, maybe put it in four handy little boxes labled “CASH”, “lotsa money”, “big moolah”

This isn’t a reason to not buy a Mclaren SLR, it’s a reason to not buy a neglected supercar. New steering rack? a well-maintained one probably won’t need one of those. And if you keep a car up it won’t need everything at once and probably a whole lot less.

Yeah it was the top of the heap for Team Pentastar back in its day, much in the way the Allanté was for Cadillac.

It’s not just a body kit. The TC could be had with a 200hp Cosworth/Maserati engine.

You’ve proven yourself brighter than me as I think I was in highschool before I realized that these things weren’t a body kit on a k-car. Now they're cool in a dorky, "so ugly you have to love it" kind of way like a pug or English bulldog.

A Torch story draws me as sure as a Tractor Beam! Happy belated birthday, Mr. T!

Not at all.  :)

Yes! This is classic Jalopnik. Not surprising it’s by Jason.

Is there something wrong with me that I just fucking love all these failed 2-seat cruisers? The TC was Chrysler’s entry, but Cadillac had the Allante and the XLR, and Buick had the Reatta. It’s a wonder Ford didn’t attempt some kind of Lincoln-Mercury thing (no, the Aussie Capri reboot doesn’t count)

Hella (the company, not the outdated adjective) makes aftermarket 90mm headlight/foglight modules. When the sun hits the lens just right, it slightly melts the bottom of the OEM foglight shroud I have them mounted in.

Ditto, this is exactly what I keep coming back for.

This is the type of journalism the world needs more of. Thank you Mr. T, and a happy belated birthday to you!

Whatever car shows he goes to: I want in!

But.. um.. driving it is enjoying it. There is no enjoyment in it sitting in a garage doing nothing.

The coding that enables those features is human work too, but I get where you’re coming from, it’s already in the car, you’re just paying to turn it on.

I think the high price of custom work and very low production options says more about how highly optimized and low cost the mass production process is. The fact you can buy a “regular” Porsche 911 for two year’s wages for an average person is pretty incredible given the technology and performance. Just one life-time

The free Leaf kind of makes sense once you commit to a 10-year car note with a monthly payment so high you can’t afford the $3+/gallon gas for the Titan. You’re gonna need to just drive the Leaf a couple of years as your sole transportation to the store to buy off-brand cereal that comes in a bag.

You had me at “A:”
