I just want to see the ad and understand exactly how the car was being positioned. I’m aware of how CPO works.

I do question whether or not this dealership is doing something illegal, even if it is potentially distasteful and maybe not to the highest ethical standards. That said, while I don’t inherently trust

I’m not one who participates in schadenfreude as it relates to people. However, I’d be remiss if I were to say that I wouldn’t be sad to see this and so many other car brands fail.

1) The name Vinfast. Come on. It sounds like one of those websites where you can research a VIN number. You know the ones that make you

1) Wrangler - HAHAHA. Yes, a Willys trim package is kind of silly.
2) Crown - Give it LHD and bring it here. I’d be the quirky soul that would get some kicks from its understated and rather homely design.
3) 2-Series Gran Coupe - This and the CLS are silly and off brand. Not every manufacturer needs to appeal to every

There’s something to be said about nostalgic design. If there were a modern Checker Marathon available with similarly bulky proportions and dimensions, I’d consider it. For that matter, just bring back a modern Ford family Panther platform, reimagined for the age of hybrid/partial electrification.

I too love the “steampunk nonsense” comment, however, I think a steampunk reality would be a fun place to visit when the multiverse allows us to do so.

Thank you. And though I’ve said this a few times in other comments/replies, I am not calling out Tom, but I am curious if I were to follow the details of the ad and the description if I’d be confused as to whether this is, or isn’t being advertised as a CPO car.

I’m down with this name. I immediately associated it with Anyone.

It does look like a lousy online gaming screen name, but it works.

I’ll have to do a bit of digging. I’d love to see if I follow the trail that there isn’t some type of disclaimer or explanation of their take on CPO.

I think you’ve validated my concerns that this may not be an actual big deal, or a violation or even a gross attempt at deception.

My bet is that a crafty attorney set this up CPO eligible thing in a way that wouldn’t result in legal troubles.

The Prius did seem pretty forward thinking. I mean it isn’t that they don’t innovate, of course they do. More recently the Mirai was a pretty bold move.

However, it is my impression that Japanese companies have become successful through iteration more so than invention. To this I think about how they made the

10 years? Possibly.

I’m not against EVs. I think they’re great. For my needs, they just aren’t there yet.

Let’s be glad no one was killed or injured. I doubt he’ll serve much, if any time on this.

However, your point got me thinking.

Yes, kill the revenue stream from the stunt. Add stiffer penalties if he seeks to capitalize off of his crime.

I hear and understand your points, though I wouldn’t say GM and Ford are making better EVs.

Tesla has lacked some progress in both innovation and style over the past few years.

I’m not going to go so far as to compare Tesla to Toyota, but Toyota doesn’t have the identity of being on the cutting edge of tech or trends.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I love them. There’s a few in the school pickup line. The size is in the Goldilocks zone. If I thought it would totally replace my ICE truck, I’d drop a dime on one.

As a car company. I agree.

Agreed. Let’s see the facts and make a call. Is the dealer truly flouting the law, or do they have a clever, and legally justifiable way of operating in the margins?

So, let’s see the facts and put this conversation to rest.

There are clues here that lead me to believe that is possibly a matter of ethics is being conflated to a full-on legal violation. That may very well be the case, but also perhaps it isn’t.

Clues in the post:
Infiniti CPO implies that this is a new car franchise

ACK. How’d you know?

Nope. Not involved in this in anyway other than I’m asking more questions and not taking all of this at face value.

Third option is that neither of your guesses are true, but thanks for your comment anyway.
