I’m going to get super nerdy here, and as a caveat, I didn’t find a single source of MSRPs, so sources vary and I can’t validate accuracy of the source data. I even found that Jalopnik’s difference in MSRP between 2023 and 2024 differs from what I found. Based on Jalopnik’s data the generational price increase from

How do you know what I sound like? I’ve been told that I have a very warm, and authentic voice.

However, it is your prerogative to have an opinion of any type on anything.

The level of thrill one experiences in my presence is variable based on their life experience.

A scam? You’re entitled to your opinion.

My goal? Your comments, and those of others.

More accurately, price and value are not always one and the same.

Who are you talking to?
Its, uh Jakie from State Farm...
Jakie from State Farm at 3 in the morning? Who is this?
Its Jakie... from State Farm
What are you wearing, “Jakie from State Farm?”
Uh... Khakis?

However, so is the fate of other half-baked luxury car plays. I’m thinking of the VW Phaeton in particular.  However, I’d bet that a Millennia may be like the Miata in some ways in that it embodied the spirit of a genre and traded off a bit of excitement for quality.

I love that you’re taking over Jalopnik. As I look at the home screen, I see Lawrence Hodge all over! Keep up the great writing!

There’s an analogy here. The Mustang underwent a change in its appearance and content and became 18% more valuable. Did you undergo the same transformation at work?

Your pay may not have gone up that much, but that’s not the reality of many people. With all the talk of “quiet quitting” there is an equally interesting

However, is it really that big of a jump in price considering:
S550 went into production in July of 2014 (Nearly 9 years ago)
Power has increased
Record inflation rates not seen for decades prior
Used cars experienced massive increases in value, squashing previous depreciation curves

I get where you’re coming from, but it

I think premium and luxury are both subjective. However, while I’d say many cars are better classified as premium, vs. luxury. To me, a BMW 3 Series or Mercedes-Benz C-Class are seen as smaller luxury cars, but I also don’t find them particularly luxurious. They are indeed premium as compared to a Honda Civic.

The

This seems to be the same argument for guns, if everyone else has one, others feel justified in having one to not get the short straw.

The right stance isn’t to bash any vehicles based on its form factor.

So true. I don’t think anyone has the power to beat the odds of physics or human nature on a bike. I enjoyed my time on two wheels, but I thank my lucky stars I’m intact and never had a major wreck. After a close call, I hung up my riding gear and closed that chapter of my life. To each their own.

I saw one earlier today. I love these. I used to be part of the camp that snickered at the MX-5, and perpetuated the hairdresser car trope. However, they’re a delight to drive, and are quite trackable for a beginner right out of the box.

I also love the Mustang GT, and other V8 variants. They’re quite good, though in

Thank you for your logical, and well thought out comment.  Unless one needs to tow >5k lbs on a regular basis, there are many smaller trucks that are capable, well-made, and can serve those needs.

Make no mistake, there’s a cultural element at play here that can’t be denied. The norms of masculinity vary greatly across the globe, and there are differences between the US and Europe. Let’s also make it clear that the EU is a collection of nations, each with cultures and customs that can be quite different.

Here

1st Gear: I wonder how much of the inflation of used car prices can be attributed directly to Carvana’s willingness to pay higher amounts than what seemed reasonable for used cars?
2nd Gear: I’ve owned an American built German car, it didn’t seem to be built to the same standards as I’d expect of a German made, German

Read the OP in this thread. I don’t think they’re implying that if fraud happened that it is ok. I think what they’re implying is that Adam Levine has a personality that doesn’t encourage sympathy.

I see this from two sides, and I’m conflicted.

1) I would love a digital wallet and keyring to free up two pockets in my pants
