Yeah, they’ve had a lot of mixed messaging. I think they wanted a new edition to leave the OGL behind, but when the OGL stuff blew up in their face they got spooked and changed course.

Right down to the animations, the interface, level design, basic shit like entering and leaving the ship’s cockpit. everything about that game is trying to stretch itself out to consume as much time as possible.

“One D&D” is basically a project or initiative. The 2024 rulebooks are part of that, but there’s no edition change. The other parts are D&D Beyond, and D&D Digital Play Experience that’s still in very early development.

If you want to draw a line, draw a line between toxic arseholes and normal people, and stop letting those toxic arseholes hijack basic language. Not sure where the servers are hosted specifically but they do seem to be integrated with Epic Online Services. That service did run into a problem with 700,000 concurrent players and Epic had to rush out a fix.
