Steam delays payments for 30 days after the end of the calendar month, meaning you’re waiting 30-60 days for a sale to get paid out. So either way (money scam or troll) they’re incredibly stupid.

It also happened to Palworld. All the scams were from the same developer account.

a low effort click funnel -an attempt to sell ad revenue by getting people to click the equally nonsensical clickbait

Yeah, they’ve had a lot of mixed messaging. I think they wanted a new edition to leave the OGL behind, but when the OGL stuff blew up in their face they got spooked and changed course.

Right down to the animations, the interface, level design, basic shit like entering and leaving the ship’s cockpit. everything about that game is trying to stretch itself out to consume as much time as possible.

“One D&D” is basically a project or initiative. The 2024 rulebooks are part of that, but there’s no edition change. The other parts are D&D Beyond, and D&D Digital Play Experience that’s still in very early development.

I’m not sure how an average of four videos a year is “overmarketed”, and I’m not sure why things like dev diaries would even be included in that.

Hi, I used to work for a multiplatform developer and publisher as an engine programmer. I’d like to respond to some of the things you said.

If you play games, you’re a gamer. I’m a gamer. Most of us here are gamers. If you want to draw a line, draw a line between toxic arseholes and normal people, and stop letting those toxic arseholes hijack basic language. If you give them that much control, you’re going to be constantly retreating from normal things

No harm no foul, happy to reset. I’ve got more than my share of things I get heated over (the I/P conflict has been especially enraging for me this last few months), of course I understand.

Again, someone as oblivious as you calling other people stupid doesn’t land the way you think it does, but it does say quite a bit about you.

If you can’t figure out why questioning newsworthiness and calling a cultural interest a disease might be gatekeeping, I’m not sure you’re in much of a position to be calling other people stupid. They both read as “I don’t like it so nobody should like it”.

You’re right, gatekeeping is a bit of a cultural disease and the article seems to have fed into yours. Best of luck for your recovery.

Only in response to stupid questions.

You’re not sure why a gaming website would report on the retirement of a high profile gaming streamer?

There’s nothing wrong with being unaware of racist stereotypes. But now that you know, it seems like the best path is to learn about why they’re a problem and then avoid them going forward.

How are you distinguishing between a meme and a merited success at this stage, though? You don’t know what this game’s long term sales are like, it hasn’t been out long enough. It seems like you could make this same argument right after any high profile game launch if you happen to dislike the game.

Not sure where the servers are hosted specifically but they do seem to be integrated with Epic Online Services. That service did run into a problem with 700,000 concurrent players and Epic had to rush out a fix.

Remember kiddo, the only person putting someone else down, is someone not doing better than them, themselves.
