Just remember: “We’ll all be using public bathrooms together” is the exact same tactic that was used to torpedo the Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution.

Two weeks ago I was at a comicon with all-gender restrooms. I have no idea what gender anyone in there was, we were all too busy trying to keep our capes and space marine armor out of the toilets.

Why does every male feel the need to “protect” women on this one fucking issue?? Like dude, we are good with transgender women using the women’s bathroom. Maybe try being this upset about how few rape kits are actually tested? Or that only 2% of rapists actually ever get convicted (meaning there are legitimate sexual

So if you’re black:

Dude, I can’t imagine not laughing loudly on a wine train. If I am having a ladies night and there is wine involved, I will laugh loudly. And when I see other women doing the same I am happy for them. It’s good, clean, innocent fun. And (because I am white) nobody ever gives me shit for laughing loudly while having

Uhhhh can someone explain to me the difference between “racial bias” and “acute insensitivity”?

If he’s still running at that point, you’ll still be able to vote for him. Actually even if he isn’t, by then, you can write him in if you like.

cant vote in a party’s primary. they can still vote...

If voting in the primary is important to you, and it’s not to 86% of people, then you register for the party you’re mostly aligned with so you can vote in their primary. I live in a closed primary state, it’s not like this is a secret.

Yes, it confuses me that non-party members should get to choose. A party is a group of people getting together and saying” we agree on most political things, let’s do campaigns together”. A primary is this group of people deciding who amongst them represents this group best. Allowing outsiders to vote into that misses

You just learned this today? I’m sorry, but this proves a lot of points about why primaries or closed in some states.

I don't like parties either, but I guess I consider loyalty to be the responsibility I don't have/want. I get both sides on this one.

Funny story: If you want to change the Dem primary to be open... Wait for it...

You actually have to care enough to register for the party you prefer and do it long enough ago that it isn’t a last-minute whim. I’m all for closed primaries. I don’t need outsider anarchists fucking up my choice for president.

Idk, while I understand your feelings, and am also an independent (not American) voter, it kind of feels like when a deadbeat dad only sees his kid at Christmas then gets confused about why he doesn't have a say in where they go to college. Personally I feel like I don't take on the responsibility of being a party

They do, in the general election. You can vote for anyone there. But it doesn’t really make sense to let non-Dems who we can’t really count on to support the eventual nominee in the general, pick the nominee.

But...primaries are party processes. I don’t understand why the default assumption should be that non-party members participate in party-specific processes. I get that you want to just participate where you feel like it, but surely you understand why primaries are not always open to independents?

Counterpoint: Why should people who aren’t in the party and don’t identify with the party get to pick who the party runs as a candidate? Why should the preference of some non-member who doesn’t show up for the party in elections have the same weight as that of somebody who identified with the party strongly enough to

Why? Parties are made of volunteers, donors and local leaders working together to get their favorite candidates elected. Why should you, as an independent, have a say in who my party puts forward as our candidate?

Honestly I find it crazier than Independents think they can vote in party primaries. Do you all think we choose parties on our registrations just for funsies? What else is that process for if not to RSVP your spot for primaries and conventions?
