I really don’t know if this is the case in Santa Clara County, but I know in other California counties, the probation departments are effed up by the prison overcrowding and AB 109.

California has the death penalty. But never actually executes anyone. I actually think this is the best system.

I love when people’s defense of someone is “but he didn’t kidnap her!” Yes. That's his positive quality 😕

I take issue with the conclusion that serial rapists are more likely to kidnap/threaten/using weapons. I think those cases are just more likely to result in rape kits....

Oh god I forgot about that one!

I agree...works for me sometimes. Minor headache though, not migraines. But it just seemed like a study conducted by a guy whose wife feigned headaches to avoid sex with him.

This reminds me so much of the “Sex cures a headache” study. I think someone got the results they we're hoping for....

Well that sentence is basically the whole part of the article on that particular case

Well normally in briefs/motions you analyze the case law in the abstract,so there is no gender. It’s more like, “In order for a defendant to be guilty of X, the defendant must have done A, B, and C.”

I find this fascinating. I love this article:

Lawyers usually just avoid using these pronouns alright and it isn’t as hard as you’d think.

We NEED this.

I’m from the USA. I took ballet. I never heard of Princess Day until today. It must just be some areas....

Maybe if you had taught your son not to rape people, this wouldn’t be an issue...

U visa or T visa. I’m sure she’s getting one. Either that or Special Immigrant Juvenile Status.

I’m think actually immune to opiates all together, though it’s hard to tell entirely because they are always mixed with something (usually acetametaphine) which does have small effect.

I know! 30 pills in 6 months is nothing!!!! He basically only uses them when he’s in really bad pain or he knows he has to do some sort of physical activity which will cause him pain AND he knows he has shit to do. Otherwise he uses hot showers, tens unit, various stretches and massages from me. He works from home

In other words, I as an attorney with criminal law experience, have no explanation for this shit.

I’ve seen way worse misdemeanor assaults. And in California, you can pretty much get your felonybreduced to misdemeanor after 3 years which is infuriating.
