People experiencing chronic debilitating pain because doctors refuse to prescribe pain meds is also a problem. My husband has been taking Vicodin for 15 years....since he fell off a roof and broke his back. And it’s getting harder and harder for him to get anything to treat his pain. He probably goes through 30 pills…

I kinda like the system we have going in California where we have the death penalty, but we never actually excute anyone. There’s something to be said for publicly stating that certain people who do certain heinous things deserve to die. The actual execution part....matters less I think.

I work in a court that is VERY informal and we all know each other very well and we STILL use last names. Even when I'm referring to my colleagues AT MY FIRM on the record I'll always refer to them as Ms. Smith or whatever. Off the record, the judges do call us by our first names but never the reverse.

I was taught to just not be a jackass and not get held in contempt......

As someone very familiar with this topic and deal with it daily I my job, I agree with this change if for no other reason than ‘illegal alien’ really doesn’t have any precise meaning. Politics aside, ‘illegal alien’ shouldn’t be used in anything formal because it makes no sense and is an entirely unhelpful description
