I agree that the visual style of season 1 was generally more impressive than the dialogue (and definitely better than his writing of non-prost female characters), but it's no small feat to write a good pulp murder mystery that's more about exploring philosophy and Big Ideas than standard procedural details. That's one

Yeah, I see your point. I had also forgotten that PP was a free app when writing this; I can see a lot of people downloading just out of curiosity and then finding themselves immediately overwhelmed. I'd still like to see some hardcore Pied Piper loyalists at some point, but the other part of my criticism was off-base

Not to nitpick the mechanics of TV plotting, but what I don't understand is why "normal" people were downloading PP at all if they had no idea what it was or how it worked. If the staff was able to describe it enticingly enough to get them to download it, why can't they explain the basics of how to use it?

The guy getting hit with an arrow in the head just as Jon reached him reminded me a lot of The Revenant as well. Another great unbroken shot battle scene.

Yep, just thought of that before seeing this. Must have been thinking of Tatiana's gender rather than the character's. Fixed.

I think they should bring everybody back for the final season (plus a few more of the clones we haven't met, as per Keira's comment), but in Tony's case I kind of doubt it. I remember hearing Tatiana on the Comedy Bang! Bang! podcast talk about that episode like a sort of failed experiment, and the fan reaction wasn't

There's no rule, it just clutters up the feed to see a bunch of posts from the same person. Super-posts in GOT threads and other shows always get conversations going on all the various points made in them anyway.

You know you can put all your thoughts in one post, right? You're starting to toe the line into spam at this point.

That's definitely possible too; if we had first met him when Arya entered the House of Black and White I'd probably agree with you. But given their history together (stretching all the way back to s2!) and the seeming affection/deference he's shown her throughout, even tolerating all her missteps as a student, I like

That little quarter-smile he cracks after Arya's declaration was maybe the most satisfying part of the episode for me. As shitty as his training methods could be at times, Jaqen really does care about her and wants her to follow her true feelings. A great payoff for their relationship.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Jaqen may step in to give Arya an assist during the Arya-Waif showdown. The Waif has shown time and again that she's not nearly as emotionless and impersonal as the Men Without Faces seemingly requires, and she blatantly went against Jaqen's orders by stabbing Arya in the gut like

Agreed. I'm getting a little tired of every review now decrying that Silicon Valley isn't a different type of show. It's a sitcom, it's always been a sitcom, and it's still the funniest show on TV.

The weird tone might have something to do with Bender's direction. All the fight and confrontation scenes (not to mention the daddy issues stuff) felt very Lost-y to me. At least it was mostly the good parts of Lost, and not the lazy characterization and occasionally cringey dialogue. That show was great at pacing

He's a child in charge of a kingdom. Also, he wants a good woman, but he NEEDS the bad pussy.

Of course! He has to be there when the White Walkers come, to do…..something important, I guess?

Gilfoyle's "soon they'll be renn-fairing" jab made me think the whole thing was a reference to Middleditch's love of them in real life. Oh, what I would give to see him in realistic medieval garb at one of those things.

Not to mention giving her a sheen of "journalistic integrity" so she could be better protected from having to reveal her source. Though I'm not sure how well that works when done after the fact.

It's certainly likely. Just look at Rob Schneider's daughter…

The ultimate point may be that even though he sticks out so much among cynical, sarcastic tech nerds, he may be the most "normal" of the bunch in the outside world.

It clearly works for him, but I wonder how often Jared's eternally-positive attitude leads to a total mental breakdown? I'd love to see another run from him like when he went pill-crazy in season one, that's still one of the funniest things SV's ever done.
