Dear Darkhearts, who I’m unwilling to ungrey:

If nothing else, I’m grateful for the following quote:

Ditto on the hope, if you don’t take down Dad as well at the least this is a failure.

Not going to lie, the comments section makes me happy. I have been a cyclist for 15 years and a car nut far longer, and I distinctly remember when the Jalopnik comments section was vehemently anti-cyclist to the point of some who advocated for what this asshole did.

From left to right; dad, passenger, driver. Driver and passenger are wearing matching work shirts. I bet driver works for dad’s business and they were “working” at the time of the accident. I can’t wait to find out who they are.

Thanks for posting this article - it is an excellent writeup of the legal facts in this case.  I really appreciate it, especially as an avid cyclist.

Read the article from Bike Law dot Com about the firm representing all 6 of the cyclists.

If they’re calling in an outside special prosecutor, and the local DA is going to great pains to say that his office is a separate entity from the local police department, I’d venture that this is a City of Waller police senior officer/chief’s kid. Or the parents are so wired into the local community that all the

It’s much less dangerous than sitting in traffic. I have avoided getting squashed by an inattentive driver thanks to lane splitting. I was on a highway in traffic, saw a driver behind me that was looking shady, and when the car in front of me braked for slow traffic ahead, I went around it between cars. I then heard

But that’s the kicker: It shouldn’t be dangerous. If your home state has a law that says motorcycles can lane split, you as a driver should be prepared for that to happen.

I avoided clicking on this at Jalopnik because I was almost certain that at least one of the top 5 replies would be some stupid bullshit about cyclists doing rolling stops or going counter-traffic on one way streets or being slow or snooty or inconsiderate road users - the kind of shit that I’m used to seeing on

Cyclist here and I am in the same boat.  For my 40th I did a 40 miler, all on the trainer.  Mind numbing, yes.  But doing so without have to risk getting hit and live to eat my cake later that day, it was well worth it.  Outside of the trainer, the only other route I do now is a protected 75 miles bike path along a

IME, a road bike is especially attractive to these kinds of tiny dick fuck nuts as aggressive incidents against me are far less on my custom upright bikes, with the comical ACME rocket bike receiving none at all vs the road bike, even wearing regular clothes. Nevertheless, carelessness from the oblivious is common

I used to love to ride. Got hit by a car where the lady tried to claim she had the right of way (she was turning to her left directly in front of me and I had no stop sign or light or anything) and I sold my bike. I love it, but not worth getting mangled or leaving my kids with no father.

As a fellow cyclist, this is why I’m starting to avoid road biking. Luckily I have a bike trail near my house, but I don’t trust drivers anymore. Either they are distracted or assholes to cyclists. No need to try to kill cyclists since they are making you to get somewhere slower. We take up the lane for our safety.

You have it exactly backwards. Illot is going to Indycar because he isn’t considered one of F1's best upcoming talents. Three years ago, there was a lot of hype around him, but three years is a long time ago. The depth of talent in European single seat feeder series is so ridiculous at the moment that, unless you

right now vaccinated people are going around like life is back to normal

For you older folks and people not in the know, Tesla cameras don’t record in 4k as far as I know. “Caught in 4k” is a colloquialism for getting caught on camera.

This video seems like the human version of what I would see if I strapped a camera to my dog and sent him outside for an hour.

Thanks for pointing out the PR aspect - now it will be re-framed on social media. It turns a (-) to a (+) with minimal cost.
