Looking at it pragmatically, even if assuming they come out with a hefty loss from the exchange, they still come out even or ahead because they will turn intense and widespread vilification of the dealership into widespread at least grudging respect.

I feel the same way. I find even cruise control useless unless I’m driving on desolate highway.

A lot of people acting like Raph wants to disqualify any MBZ of the era from classic competition and so must do the same with any models or marques that could be argued as complicit in any injustice, because: LOOK AT THIS SLIPPERY SLOPE BEFORE US.

Maybe the transplants. There is no way it’s obscure to native Californians, given how many times I've heard it mentioned as a punchline.

I think it’s more than justified to invest more into cameras that create more law enforcement transparency.

You’re joking, but the joke is that there already are higher legal hurdles and processes standing in the way of a person legally driving a car than owning a gun.

Hopefully. I believe a lot in the efficacy of masks. I think that some areas with stricter public mask mandates didn’t enjoy as much suppression of transmissions as should have resulted because people were not following guidelines in private settings.

I don’t think it can be “moot.” From what I understand, any sort of barrier is going to help. An N95 respirator better than a sturdy cloth mask better than a flimsy cloth or paper mask better than no mask at all.

Gonna join the Well Actually Brigade to point out that, well, actually, the 1st gen Scion xB was shorter than the Yaris and had over 40 cubic feet of cargo area. With rear seats folded down, not removed.

I assume that X% gap in actual value on an automobile is not a big risk for lenders if a person has decent enough credit or ability to pay. With houses, the stakes are much higher.

Cars are sold on Facebook Marketplace too.

There is a general presumption that there is a normal or fair profit to make and to make more than that is...abnormal, or unfair.

Okay, fair enough. It is one of the things that is being discussed here, but not really THE point being discussed or even the most notable.

It’s speeding. Also not at all remarkable. On 45mph limit expressways around me, people routinely drive 60-70mph.

BMW apparently still makes multiple gas scooters. I would think that there is a good market for these in Europe and Asia. And that an electric could sell especially high numbers in China, where urban transportation by electric scooters is the norm.

It’s an exceptionally challenging job and most of those shouting ACAB don’t have mental toughness to actually do the job.”

It is an exceptionally challenging job and maybe most or many people don’t have the mental toughness to actually do the job.

“ACAB” is reductivist, untrue, and unproductive, and people are

I guess to appeal to customers who are conformist enough to want to buy a Toyota but iconoclastic enough to not want their car to wear the same grill badge as all the other Toyotas.

I hope not. I like a lot of the writers, but the comments are at least half the fun.

Kinja has a lot more problems than just this, but I was able to reduce problems on mobile by accessing on a browser with no ad-blocking running on it. Before that, I couldn’t log into my account at all. And sometimes comments wouldn’t even show up, or would take an eternity to load.

I shouldn’t have dismissed importance of pre-orders. Maybe this is wrong, but I assumed that there would be a path for a company to have the capital necessary to start limited production. Or do...more without first having to sell six-digits of binding pre-orders. Maybe that’s the only way for Lordstown to catch up,
