I’m not a law enforcement professional either, but I’m fairly certain that if I tried to run over one with my car, getting shot would be among the consequences I’d expect.

This is a case where I can’t applaud what the police officer did, and I’m going to guess that there were better ways of resolving this that could have left everyone still alive. This is where we’re at? Folks in the comments saying the cop SHOULD”VE stepped aside? NO, no & no! They were doing their jobs, they were attempting to prevent the theft! Once she stepped on the gas & there is a human in front of the car, she found out!

I think we’re ignoring the other big point of this. If the mother was really concerned about her life or the life of her unborn child, she wouldn’t be shoplifting (alcohol, at that), and she wouldn’t commit felony evading. If the bodycam footage shows that she tried to drive at an officer, add that to the tally.

Well, alcohol is a necessity for pregnant women. Good reminder to NOT steal alcohol (or anything). It’s not that hard.

Why would you assume that someone that intensionally drives a car at the cops wouldn't swerve to hit them when they moved? Don't aim deadly weapons at the police. 

She could’ve chosen not to steal. Or stop the car when asked.
