Now that Disney owns it, I don’t think even losing one of the core family members will spell the end.

As you can see, they have no issue replacing deceased voice actors. And while the producers of The Simpsons have, for the most part, stuck to the tradition of retiring characters instead of replacing them with new

One of the worst parts of The Simpsons running so long past it’s prime is that, as members of its aging cast inevitably die, their characters effectively become footnotes of the show's past, which is far less than they deserve.

I will say this again... When you have been on air SOOOO long that your cast is dying of old age, you need to bring the show to an end.

Russi Taylor was apart of a lot of great shows when I was a kid. Never realized it till I was much older how many characters she voiced that brought me joy. We’re getting to the point where Simpsons cast are at risk of leaving us and it’s gonna be very weird.

You don't play Joan Crawford and then just move on with your life. It sticks around.

If the startup bros lie to venture capitalists, then it’s fraud. If they have a business plan (albeit a terrible one) and people decide to invest in their plan, it’s not fraud.

I’m not sure I’d say “flailing desperately to capture ‘90s Trek nostalgia” is a much more shit-giving ethos than “flailing desperately to capture TOS nostalgia,” but we’ll see.

I’m not basking in anything. I’m giving my take on it. I’m just being cautiously optimistic. I was excited when Discovery was announced and when cast, timeline, ship and set design details were leaked.

I dunno, it looks just like Discovery but with Picard in it.
Hell yeah! That’s the power of nostalgia! *high five*

most dizzyingly atrocious musicals of all time

I’m not sure furries, Swifties, and hallucinogenics fans alone are enough to carry a movie, but we’re about to find out . . .

I never knew the phrase “This Holiday Season, You Will Believe” could sound so menacing, holy shit.

Just imagine if this were in the hands of a Ken Russell or Peter Greenaway. I would be down for that.

Ah, the good old days. Before Disney took a horribly derisive attitude towards the traditional animation that is their heritage.

In 1984 I was stationed in the Navy base in North Chicago. The closest mall, of course, had a Chess King where they very wisely employed young attractive women to sell to the young squids from the base. You could always tell when someone had gone Full Chess King by the parachute pants and zippered jackets.

Ah so many fond memories of telling my parents I was going to the Waldenbooks, when really I was sneaking into Spencer Gifts.

I don’t know; sounds like reasonable name for a 70s detective show.

Something we never asked ourselves when we were kids … why would anyone dedicate a guided missile submarine to Oceanographic Survey duty?

I clicked because I recognized the USOS Seaview, but the article baffles me...

i mean, it’s just his cranky old man opinion. nothing more nothing less. and i mean, i like harry potter a lot but it’s always been crazy unoriginal.
