I am a doula and therefore am “Interested in Human Reproduction” by Facebook Advertising Algorithm standards so I recently got an ad for mail order sperm in my feed.

I graduated from high school that year. I had that issue of Seventeen! Ahh, memories. I wore the cutest little black velvet dress to my own graduation. With a choker, of course.

Fun story: My Mother In Law once bought an old house and the basement bathroom was fully carpeted. There were fricking MUSHROOMS growing beside the toilet when she took possession. Barf.
Parents of toddlers everywhere are wondering where they can get a coffee table with upholstered corners like the one in the wood-panelled den.
I am not arguing about this with you. We are here to discuss anti-vaxx nutjobs. not the safety of homebirth. You have no idea what homebirth is like in my country or you would know that two midwives are present for all homebirths so there is one for the mom and the baby. There is also no such thing as a stat C-section…
I think I was just pointing out why I am defensive of people who lump certain members of the population together. I don’t ever ever ever want to be compared to these monsters and I suppose I didn’t really mean to reply to you per se.
I don’t actually know, but I am asking a professional midwife right now because I am curious as well. It could be better screening and prenatal care because of socialized healthcare? Different levels of training of midwives? Stricter homebirth criteria (it is very strict where I am) We have the same ambulances you do…
I might be a little sensitive as I homebirthed, I homeschool one of my kids and I am also a doula but I still consider myself very mainstream. My kids are vaccinated, they get regular medical care from a family practice physician—not a natropath, and I don’t take clients who are not being seen by a midwife or OB. I do…
fascinating article.
I think part of the problem talking about this with Americans is that midwifery isn’t regulated in the US the same way it is in other countries and the idea of midwives being appropriate for most obstetrical care is a very new idea them. I had a midwife for all three of my births—2 hospital and one at home and I feel…
midwives are advanced-practice medical professionals in Canada. They would have had a very safe homebirth if they had used one. Unassisted homebirth is totally different than a midwife-assisted birth in canada. I was just pointing that out.
The way my body works it was better for me to be at home to birth—we had a close call on the way to the hospital with the baby born before my homebirth. Also, there was bacterial meningitis whipping through the hospital around the time I was due so it was actually safer for me to be in my own clean house than it was…
Is he taunting me?
I made a smoothie with those ingredients today. That is not a cure for meningitis! It’s a lazy lunch.
Thank you!
do not lump midwife assisted homebirths in with unassisted homebirths—they are totally different. I had a midwife-assisted homebirth and had the years of her experience and advanced medical training as well as all of her emergency equipment in my bedroom for the event. Freebirthers have none of those things. My kids…
Thank you. This story has been popping up on Facebook with regularity and I just can’t think about it anymore. There are only so many times a day one can go blind with rage. I need more kitty pictures.
I am a secular homeschooler (we wore out our welcome at public school) and my heathen homeschooling friends showed me REAL Science. It is a proper science curriculum.
I recently pulled my boy out of school to homeschool. I get nervous about homeschool gatherings because I know there is a high percentage of non-vaxxed kids in the homeschool community here.
