Aw if you swap out that 24 inch imac to an SSD and get the temperature sensor and stuff it’ll speed way up.

A writer, wanting faster launching than an M1 provides? Is she using a non-native app? Just curious, you can’t launch basic, native apps much more quickly than an M1 does without removing launch and dock animations. If she’s using a non-native app, then it’ll still lag a bit on launch because Rosetta isn’t the fastest…
if you want cotton candy smell you can just blow your head gasket
I think that if you are looking at the ground in front of you for screws/debris/etc. to avoid running them over, then you add a bright laser, your eyes will no longer be able to see ground-colored debris due to the increased contrast. Your eyes have a pretty decent dynamic range, but you can’t stare at the sun to see…
Yeah but... if you’ve got bright lasers lighting up the ground in front of you, how are you going to see a nail in front of your tire? Being that bright is going to wash out the rest of your vision. It’s just not a good idea.
How is it better than a screen? Both of them require you to look down and not at the road ahead, if you’re staring at pavement, then you have to worry even more about target fixation - and some people *do* stare at their nav, it happens not infrequently. Adding in variations in road surface, vibrations, etc. you might…
Which really mitigates the value of this laser thing. It’s no better than existing options, doesn’t really provide any benefit, and additionally will just serve to distract others.
That’s exactly the point, its not better at all than existing options. It’s dangerous to stare at the ground in front of you, especially on two wheels. I think it’s even part of MSF training when going for your motorcycle license.
Target fixation being a thing, not sure that making people stare at the ground in front of their bicycle is a good idea.
yeah yeah communist jokes are only funny if everyone gets them
Thanks, it’s back on hold now pending some medical issues. Hopefully overall it’ll slow down by the time I am able to drive again.
I have tried several times to go get pricing with intent to purchase Kia and Hyundai vehicles over the years... and the actual process and experience is so terrible I have bought alternatives every time. I really want an Elantra N or Kona N, but I can only imagine the process would be as abusive as it always is.
wow the autotune warbling was strong on that one
You can’t spend that much time in VR without some unforeseen effects. For example, a weird inverted mohawk center part situation with your hair.
Not a terrible comparison, to be honest. Like a salad, explosions are best enjoyed as an accompaniment (to a meal/movie). Too much ruins it, and you can still have a great meal/movie without salad/explosions.
Remember that you’re on an enthusiast site. Most of us are going to pay more attention while driving than the average person. Most of us probably aren’t texting while driving - but a lot of those people exist. You can’t plan for enthusiasts overall, you need to plan for average with this stuff. The average person is…
The comparison with an iphone touchscreen is only tangentially relevant, as you look at a phone’s screen to use it. The point of in-vehicle controls is that you are supposed to be able to use them without taking your eyes off the road. Anything that requires you to look away from the road is a failure. Tesla does not…
The show is super dumb, in all the best possible ways. Super enjoyable :D
+1 for not making this a slideshow!
Sometimes you don’t need to reinvent the wheel. Nothing about a touch screen to adjust climate and/or stereo settings is better, it’s just different for the sake of being different. It feels like the infotainment/environmental control interfaces of every tesla is there to soft-prep drivers for eventual full self…
