I have tried several times to go get pricing with intent to purchase Kia and Hyundai vehicles over the years... and the actual process and experience is so terrible I have bought alternatives every time. I really want an Elantra N or Kona N, but I can only imagine the process would be as abusive as it always is.

Remember that you’re on an enthusiast site. Most of us are going to pay more attention while driving than the average person. Most of us probably aren’t texting while driving - but a lot of those people exist. You can’t plan for enthusiasts overall, you need to plan for average with this stuff. The average person is

The comparison with an iphone touchscreen is only tangentially relevant, as you look at a phone’s screen to use it. The point of in-vehicle controls is that you are supposed to be able to use them without taking your eyes off the road. Anything that requires you to look away from the road is a failure. Tesla does not

+1 for not making this a slideshow!

Sometimes you don’t need to reinvent the wheel. Nothing about a touch screen to adjust climate and/or stereo settings is better, it’s just different for the sake of being different. It feels like the infotainment/environmental control interfaces of every tesla is there to soft-prep drivers for eventual full self

the 24 hour test drive was handy when you needed a truck to move.

It does seem like one of those things that might creep up on you. Personally, I never use the radio in my cars for the most part. Usually I just drive around and depending on what car I’m in, I like to hear the wastegate opening, the turbochargers sucking, or the secondaries opening on the carbs, etc. Not loud sounds

Yeah! Like... I can get a ticket for looking at my phone, but many cars are built now so I have to look at a screen and not the road to do pretty much everything? My last couple Tesla test drives, I really wanted physical buttons for stuff, and I wanted carplay. I don’t care what Tesla does with their infotainment,

Some people want character in their cars, and the sound can be a big part of the character. My 500 abarth sounded like an angry tiny midget maserati, my Fiesta ST sounds like a hairdryer (not loud but a distinctive sucking sound lol), my Grand national sounded like the millennium falcon when the hyperdrive failed

Some stuff doesn’t bug you much right up front. I think most everyone has been there at one time or another, you think “It’s not that bad, I’ll get used to it” but over time the annoyance becomes hatred.

I... think it’s highly unlikely a group would do this effectively in LA, and not wind up being shot at. This is not a good idea.

I wish the news would just call this stuff “The idiot parade” or something, calling it a freedom fuckaround or whatever makes them feel like they’re accomplishing something more than annoying people. Do the news report - “The idiot parade has made it to main street, and is continuing to honk their horns out of a

Part of the issue is the air conditioning though, they’re constantly in and out so the AC duty cycle is higher, same with the heat. AC and heating aren’t really friendly to EV range, especially when you have that sort of duty cycle.

I thought the methodology for defeating a convoy was pretty well established.

Im surprised nobody’s joined the convoy, only to randomly just stop their car to disrupt it. “Oops I ran out of gas” “oops car broke down” - whatever, just break the convoy up into smaller chunks. These are people that only feel comfortable acting out in a big group - break up that big group and they shrivel up and

Isn’t it just another rehash of the Z, again, with a different powertrain?

lol the oil change guys always harass me about my oil changes, but because I do it at 3000-3500 when the manual says 7500. It’s turbocharged, tuned, and I beat the shit out of it - and oil’s cheap. I told them to feel free to grab what comes out and use it in their own cars if they want, but oil changes are cheaper

It doesn’t fit with the look of the cars though. They’ve worked hard for nice, curved sheet metal, then they have the chunky angular blob of a logo. Needs to be thinner, or just... different. New logo definitely Killed In Action.

spare tire, the sunroof/sunroof storage spot, and usually a ton of dead wasps that get wedged in if they make it past the radiator ;)
