I almost said the fiero from “How I met your mother”, because in one episode he takes the fiero to pick up multiple people, but they redeemed later in the episode showing people doubled up in the passenger seat all crammed together :P

It’s kinda fun to drive around at full throttle and not technically be breaking any laws. It’s why cars like the miata, brz, etc. are fun - you can enjoy yourself and not go to jail. They dropped the price after it became apparent how widespread the issue was. The older phone firmware didn’t have the battery diags the newer ones do so they had no visibility. If you were Apple certified and used the service portal regularly you’d have gotten a notification that they were investigating the issue.…

Those programs don’t launch overnight, there was a lead up to it. It’s not like they said “whoops I’m busted better instantly start a battery replacement program!”. Apple’s logistics were already geared up for it.

My fiesta ST has, since new, always made the most disconcerting transmission sounds when rolling to a stop. I miss the VW’s overbuilt gearbox :P of all the things likely to fail on a rabbit, the trans was not one of them.

It’s gonna be weird when we get to fully autonomous. Say a bunch of pedestrians are in the street to pull drivers out of their cars and beat them - and the autonomous car won’t move to get the driver to safety because there are people in the road. 

It coincided with the launch of a $29 battery replacement program because the batteries dropped output as they aged - if you are looking for a conspiracy it’s not a great place to start.

The only thing Apple did wrong was not disclosing it. The update just throttled the CPU to lower the amp draw on aging batteries to stop the unexpected shutdowns. There was a good reason for it, but they *really* should have communicated it better.

I miss my mkv rabbit. Nothing fancy, bought it cash when my old car broke down on the side of the freeway - I walked up an onramp, at the top of the ramp was a VW dealer and I drove off with the new Rabbit and was perfectly happy for years. Quiet, comfortable, boring.. .and a neat engine sound.

I heard once that all Tesla’s returned off lease get warehoused somewhere. I always wondered if they all got garaged until some future date when their auto-driving hit a point where they could release fleets of autonomous Teslas to crush Uber and Lyft.

I’m fine as long as the “selectable” sound is only audible *inside* the car. If people listening to music on their phone without headphones is bad, people being able to select the externally-audible sound of their cars would be terrible.

Yeah imagine all the mumble rap loops we’d have to hear on the freeway. It would be hilarious for a few minutes but... rush hour would be maddening.

They’re just... boring. I was shopping for an electric for my wife and everything was universally bland.
