too brittle - wood isn’t consistent, there are veins of harder and softer wood, etc. The obsidian blade would fracture anywhere there was a pressure differential on the edge. *any* torsion would = a crack/break

I haven’t experienced any of that - there HAVE been some L3 internet outages and whatnot lately, meaning some content providers have had to creatively route their traffic. It’s not impossible you were affected.
