It's not double the price of a good M3 from that era. A beat-to-hell M3 might be $5K-$7K. A clean E36 M3 is going to be a lot closer to $10K-$12K, and this is a much more special car even if it's not one you'd take to the track.

Agreed on the bullpoop high data cost, though I'm still enormously happy with mine. I won't be streaming HD video to it over LTE, but going from loading web pages at 1Mbps to 15Mbps makes it a lot more usable.

Apple is not magic. They work with the same materials and physical constraints as anyone. Put a big power hog in a little metal box and run it hard and, duh, it's going to get warm. The thing is obviously using a lot more power than the iPad 2.
