GM put an aluminum 427 V8 in a few street cars in the 1960's.

"All-wheel drive (AWD) with active torque control is available in the Matrix S, teamed to the 2.4-liter engine."

As much as I don't like it, the Prius (or maybe the Insight?) probably marks the biggest shift we've seen in many automotive generations.

Fail. Not enough Renault and not enough Dita.

The problem with giving police departments military-type hardware is that they'll use it whenever they can in order to justify the expense. There's a reason we have federal agents for dealing with federal-level crimes (pot included): they generally have better judgement than your podunk local PD.

It gives you a way to prosecute them after the fact. That's how law works, I think.

@Ashley B. Harrington: Wait, so you disagree that people should eat less? I'm curious, who are the big companies lobbying the FDA to tell people to eat less shit?

@RoyFollker: Yeah, it's nice that the beer stays cold right in my pocket. Don't even need a cupholder.

Ah, I get it now. With just a little help from the Liquefy tool it looks almost exactly like a Vantage.

@RoyFollker: A cold hoppy beer after shoveling/blowing snow is, for some inexplicable reason, even better than a cold hoppy beer after mowing the lawn.

December-March is oversteer season. How do people in warm places ever learn car control?

That's what I tell the cops. If you're always trying to get the rear end loose, you're always ready for a dab of oppo. It makes you a safer driver.

Kids need to be whacked with a rolled up newspaper and humiliated any time they pee themselves. God forbid you should gently guide your child through their developmental milestones rather than treating them like a dog to be trained.

@SorciaMacnasty: Yes. Food is so cheap and plentiful and delicious in America that anyone who isn't on a perpetual 'diet' is going to wind up unhealthy unless they're blessed with magic genes. That's not moralizing, it's fact.

@Bumblebee: 9 seconds 0-60 used to be better than average and there's no reason it's no longer good enough, is there? It does force you to *drive* as opposed to poking at the 'go' pedal until the car is moving fast enough.

The Aztek settled this question once and for all. Ask non-car people what the ugliest vehicle ever is and Aztek is going to be the #1 answer.

@Vavon: I just got done blowing the snow off the driveway with a Toro that sounds more refined. ;)

@AMC_CJ: You're still allowed to drive in Europe, last I checked. And if you want to talk about efficient use of your tax dollars, an American bemoaning European spending habits is the pot calling the kettle black.

@KillerKoala: Did I suggest it isn't subsidized? All I'm saying is that a pro-car blog bemoaning government subsidies for electric vehicles is hypocritical.
