Actually it makes it even easier for DAs to get plea agreements. As they can go to Joe Blow and say “Look if you plea guilty to the charge we will give you a 3 year suspended sentence with 5 years of parole, or you can go to trial and get up to 8 years in prison.”

Most bail agreements prohibit ownership of guns until the case is decided. As judges don’t want the possibility of a news story of “Judge John Smith released Joe Blow on bail, he went home grabbed his gun, and killed John Doe.”

We have a very very very long road for that to happen. Even the most partisan Supreme Court justices will vote for the Bill of Rights when it is clear that it would be a major abridgement otherwise.
