I think this is a good mini-guide for folks who don't want to go all out.
@greasypigstudios: If you can get the files to your thumb drive running Mojo from the Mac Partition (while Mojo is running) you may have a solution.
The download is currently broke... so just to make sure: does this allow you to use Mojo on various media?
@madderhatter: If there's a PC always-on at your home, you can use LogMeIn.com.
If you're looking for free/open-source/linux stuff you might try [misterhouse.sourceforge.net]
@Junkan: I'm no techie but Firefox just asked if I want to use Java to open it (I think you'd go to java.sun.com or something to get some software first if that didn't happen for you).
Speaking of jaseeq... just tried it and it's very cool (don't know where it's putting the files yet though). Anyway, you can also use it — and the other ones I imagine — to search for podcasts and other audio programming. Maybe that's pretty obvious to you but I thought it was cool. Got a topic you want to learn…
If you felt like trying something similar but different you could use X10 signals with ActiveHomePro software (or some variation on the theme). If you press a button on an x10 remote (or it gets a signal from a motion detector for example) you can have it trigger a macro on your PC.
My input: I've used PDFill (and paid the $20 for the extra tools) for several months. I'm very happy with it. You can even integrate it with macros and/or command line if you want to get fancy. Lots of paperwork in my line of work so importing data into forms is very nice. You can even add highlighting and a…
@David Bendit: Regarding security: I've set up a 800 MB volume with TrueCrypt, which stores the sensitive stuff. Mozy only backs up the parts that change between backups, and it appears to work even though the file is encrypted garbage (don't ask me how... I've asked Mozy support and they said it would work, and…
@heavylee-again: It's the IRS that knows. The brokerage firms don't care what you're up to — to an extent... However, they are required to report stuff (more and more stuff) to the IRS, such as retirement account contributions and distributions. Just not worth it, although I can appreciate your desire to think…
@heavylee-again, you can have as many as you want, but the funding limit is per TAXPAYER, not per account. So you could only do $400/yr each.
Solo 401k is one of the more flexible options. You get all the benefits of a SEP (wait till tax-filing deadline plus extension to fund, employer-deductible profit share...) with the ability to put in an extra 15,500 of "salary deferral" — plus an extra 5k if you're over 50. If you have "profits" below a certain…
I'm impressed with speech recognition. I used it to dictate half of a book last summer — the second half. My hands/arms were killing me from making a tight deadline required by the publisher, and Microsoft's speech recognition saved the day. I used the free stuff in XP pro with Office 2003. Like riding a bike, the…

Another comment on Gina's comment: yes, advisors will look beyond the investment stuff. The way to tell a good advisor is that they have 2 ears and 1 mouth and they use them in proportion.
I admit I'm an independent advisor. Here's what I'd tell the reader:
At first this sounded like a good idea to me. However, you really can get plenty of service providers on a paperless program. I don't mind somebody else reading my mail as long as it's mixed with the mail of a million other folks, but you gotta wonder who's opening the mail. The poster above mentioned that they…
