I will say this for the A’s - they don’t draw as many fans as they should, but the fans who do show up are great. I was at the Coliseum (which is an endearing and kind of homey old concrete shitpile that feels like it just got done hosting a livestock exhibition) last month and the ~20,000 people who were there were

The outfield seats in Oakland are general admission, one of many things I love about that unfairly-maligned old junk heap of a stadium.

Here’s the thing about this season: yes, there are a shitload of home runs. But if that were a function of the ball being “juiced” somehow, then we would expect to see every player’s number of home runs increase by some fairly regular factor. In turn, that would mean that we would have the top-tier players threatening

Yes, it is *definitely* his fault that he became addicted to painkillers that for all we know he was originally given as a prescription, yes indeed.

A guy I knew ate the cardboard his frozen lasagna came in without noticing. He did poorly when his wife wasn’t home.

The unlimited hitter time-outs are to my eyes absolutely the most exasperating problem in the game. Get your ass in the batter’s box!

Also I would desperately love a version of baseball where the pitcher was under no obligation to wait for the batter to come set, that would be *crazy.*

Holy shit, what wrong turn did Lenny Kravitz make to find himself in the middle of this list of nominees?

I can’t believe that this album has 18 songs - which is at least 4 too many - and is *still* as good as it is. Best album she’s done since Red IMO. That throbbing low-end pulse on “I Think He Knows” is worth the price of admission all on its own.

Wasn’t it Ted Williams who took it as a betrayal that the hometown fans booed him when he fucked up?

Fucking Joel.

Needs more Zachary Levi imo.

This comment is the article that the article you’re commenting on was supposed to be.

“You won’t believe this,” I sometimes tell young’uns, “But I was there when we thought ‘Garden State’ was a great movie.”

Oh, shit, I forgot about that. What a two-sided gut punch of a line.

Yeah, it’s primarily about Tom’s emotional growth, but that growth happens against the background of a relationship between two flawed people. I love that last scene on the bench, with the unspoken recognition between the two of them that they’ve both grown since the last time they saw each other.

All I really know about this movie is that seeing it in 2009 and realizing, first off, that I was a Tom, and second off, that I was currently in the middle of being just as selfish in how I related to the Summer of my then life, was one of the biggest steps forward in my own emotional development and willingness to

I love feeling the seething anger of the non-descript white men all around me when I stay firmly in my seat with my hat on, working on my scorecard, through God Bless America. Your hatred only makes me stronger, guys.

I award this bat flip 5 Bautistas out of 5.

“As mentioned above, a wheel is a device to transform what could happen into what does happen, with no regard for mortal desires.” You might even say... it’s a time machine. It goes backwards, forwards. It takes us to a place, where we ache to go again. It lets us travel in a way a child travels. Round and round, and

.....a different time. A simpler time.
