@echo off: There's a large (60m tower, 40m radius) windmill in the parking lot where I work. When it's really windy it makes quite a lot of noise at close range (somewhat like a passing aircraft). Move 400-500m away and the noise is drowned by the noise from nearby roads.
@minjChE: Many wind farms are built offshore. That would be number 2, I guess.
