No... I also wouldn't call someone who had diabetes or cancer or HIV or any other physical illness "diseased" because that's a very rude and insensitive thing to say. I would never call someone who has a disease "diseased" as I would never call a person with a disability "handicapped." That is not the way you say

Wow, no. It just means "completed" as in versus "attempted."

What about "completed suicide"? It was suggested by VirginiafromTX. It addresses your concern about passivity, but is less harsh and criminalizing than "committed."

I like that. It addresses the people who don't like the passivity of "died by" but also doesn't make it sound like some criminal act.

Is there anyway Jez could start referring to this as "died by suicide" rather than "committed suicide"? It's something one of my professors, a grief counselor and scholar, pointed out to me... Language is powerful and the language of "committed suicide" and that responsibility is hard on the family and friends of

Well that was a bit of a leap. How does "skinny does not equal beautiful" mean "skinny is never beautiful"? I'm fairly certain OP meant that skinny is not the end all be all of beautiful and that things other than skinny are beautiful too.

But his jokes weren't funny. Like at all. I understand needing to have a sense of humor about yourself, but it's hard to laugh at the oldest, most tired jokes in the world. If he wants to get laughs, then he should write original material.

At my school, the all-Greek GPA is higher than the all-university GPA, but only because the all-sorority GPA is high enough to counteract the all-fraternity GPA. If that sentence is confusing...

It's cool, I get kinda defensive when people bring up the less-desirable tiny factions of feminism also. But that's why I dislike them so much, because it leads some people to believe that that is ALL feminists when it's really just an internet-vocal 1%.

Yep. I was going to say "on Tumblr," but loge got to it before me. I've never met a feminist who says this kinda shit in real life.

Yeah, there are certain "feminists" who believe that you're not a good feminist unless you refuse to shave your legs even if you want to, refuse to wear make-up even if you want to, etc.

I don't know... Women are praised for "taking care of" their appearance to a certain extent, but beyond that receive criticism. Wear make-up, but not TOO much make-up. Wear clothes that flatter your body, but don't show TOO much!

My thought is that "other women" never made a vow to anybody. The cheating husband, on the other hand, has broken a promise and is a scummy butthole.

I am 5'10" and weigh 125 lbs. My BMI is classified as "underweight."

There are actors in EVERY feature film Pixar has ever made. Every one.

This means their view of her was blocked by other photographers. They needed a space between the people in front of them so they could get a picture of her.
