I don't say it is the strippers "fault" - I simply think that we live in a society where women are expected to entertain men with their body - and womens attractivity is reduced to this: their body. It's obvious women would choose such a profession when we are hugely reinforced to behave according to these gender

I'm not "ragging on sexworkers". If you think criticizing the way womens sexuality is capitalized on in a patriarchal society is the same as doing that - I disagree. And I think that there should be space to discuss these topics - prostitution, stripping, pornography - because I am certain that not all that it's done

I know it's not a popular opinion here. But if you think that street harassment will stop in a world where women are thought to entertain mostly men with their bodies, where female attractivity is reduced to the body and is served to mostly men on a silver plate, that's simply delusional

Hm. If that is true, would they behave like this in front of their mothers? I would doubt it in most cases, since they'd know that it's not ok/not respectful towards women - don't you think so?

I think that's complicated. I guess many women do like some forms of catcalling, just because we learn that our looks are the most important thing about us (basically from birth on). Like, even if I don't care about my looks, I know nevertheless that society in total does and hence my value in society is by default

I don't understand how men don't get how bad that is. Tbh I mostly think it's an excuse that they supposedly don't know that it's not just "games" and "flirting". It is a powergame and meant to reduce women in public to a group which can be easily be judged by the other, socially dominant group - men. I think most of

[news from the german part of the world - trigger warning - violence/ex partner]

I must say in school I did not experience slut shaming nor things like "women are not good in school". Still I was aware of sexism when looking at movies or ads, or the different ways we were supposed to dress. I was quite like you - I grew up in a very equalitarian family and hence developed rather interest in

Oh, ignorant me, I only knew Marie Leveau as the name of my favorite restaurant/bar in Stockholm, Sweden.

tbh, it's usually my partners catching me doing that, so :)
