"[Avatar's] unimpressive 3-D graphics"

Not about it being confusing, but about it being directed by someone who learned all the wrong lessons from Paul Greengrass's work on the Bourne films.

Nope, you're perfectly sane. It was almost unwatchable.

Truly. I almost never read the comment section of film reviews anymore, because they are almost exclusively populated by people who haven't seen the movie.

YES! That's exactly what I meant. Good job!

Kenneth Branagh did a solid job with the first one. Gave it a proper Shakespearean vibe that's critical to the series.

I for one, am also very suspicious of Jennifer Lopez.

Yeah, I was expecting something terrible after reading the article. Turns out the song was fine; it was the take that was bad.

Emmy voters just didn't want to deal with all the think-pieces if they didn't.

Yeah, I realize my point re: primogeniture was unclear. I meant that Sansa would be rightful heir ahead of Bran, given that she'd be the eldest living child of Eddard.

That's not how regency works.

Yeah, but he's not dead, so she's not the rightful heir.

Is there any scenario where Sansa is actually the rightful ruler of the North? I cannot think of one.

"Every time I leave the county on a mission from god!"

Sure, on a technical aspect the show was fine. And the Jenkins episode was unsurprisingly well-directed. But there was nothing about the show that elevated it above solid competency. It's kinda similar to most all of the Marvel movies: you can see the sheen from the money and hyper-competence, and it's a fun

I think the plots have become less oddball in television terms, which is to say that they've become weirder and more standard at the same time, if that makes sense. I used scare quotes around "depth" in the attempt to imply something similar: that while developing backstories, all the show was doing was taking

How about separating the best shows from the "very important shows"? Because Dear White People is only the later, and everything it has to say about race is done better, and funnier, by The Carmichael Show.

Exactly this. You could see the start of the shift from Iannucci to the new show runner, Mandal in Season 5—the overarching plots became less oddball and they started to develop more "depth" to character relationships (which I think actually lessened Veep's uniqueness as a show. But this season the writing had too

"Modified vocals and skittering drums … sounding more like Burial than the boom-bap of yore."

Obviously, you're not a golfer.
