I highly recommend reading “How Star Wars Conquered the Universe”, which was reviewed on io9 about a year ago. It’s an amazing tale of the entire Star Wars story, from the dawn of science fiction through the sale of LucasFilms to Disney and the announcement of The Force Awakens. Most interestingly, you learn about

Could happen in reverse!

Seriously, are headlines exempt from COTD?

I’m about to drop all of my Canon DSLR gear and L-series lenses on eBay and replace it with an a6000. Ever since I picked up an RX100 Mk. 1 when they were first released, the Canon has stayed in it’s bag unless I really needed a longer zoom. It’s just too much crap to haul around anymore and the results off the RX100

Well they stole the LED “swoop” from the B8 Audi A4 so that makes it different.

I recently sold a very nice washer and dryer set on Craigslist. Even though I was offering them at a great price to move them fast, I accepted the only offer I received that was less than my asking price, simply because the person communicated with me in complete sentences, using proper punctuation and a coherent

Agreed. I’m only asked about my membership at the checkout. Occasionally I’ve been asked while scoping out a large purchase but then it’s usually in the context of the rebate I would get outstripping the membership cost, so really for my benefit.

One of the first things that got me excited about The Force Awakens (I mean, aside from the whole concept of finally getting an Episode VII) was the inclusion of John Boyega in the cast. He is so great in this movie and really brings some depth and gravitas to a character who spends much of the movie not being very

C.O.T.D.

Oh thank God. Almost equal to rain was “Snow”. I live in Boston, I do not need to be alerted to snow.

“Vehicle stopped on shoulder” is like a critical piece of information compared to “Rain”. I can’t tell you how many times I have been driving in a rain storm and I get a “Rain” warning every couple of miles. I want to find the idiot sending those in and run them off the road.

Yeah, I think you’re right. I was watching it in the small window but it’s clearer when you go to full screen

You notice in these shots that the cross bars seem to be open on the top now so the beams are united? I think they did that in response to the criticisms of the design (another light saber would cut the cross guard at the base, etc). It looks like an added effect rather than part of the design.

So would “grandfather”

Those are amazingly beautiful photos of what was a really unfortunate accident. Needs more flying frog though.

Derp, just came back to correct that. You’re not a pedant at all!

Ellis had a bit of a warm up bringing Bond to the comics with John Stone from Planetary, though he’s considered to be something of an amalgam of Bond and Nick Fury.

There has been a history of actors playing multiple characters in the Bond series (Lois Chiles in “The Spy Who Loved Me” and “Octopussy”, Joe Don Baker in “The Living Daylights” and “Goldeneye”). In that spirit, I would love to see Elba play both Bond and a Bond villain. He would be epic at both!

Those would be awesome. He did one Boba Fett and Slave 1 in a similar style but it seems to be black and white only. There was a variant of these that was b+w it lost some of the impact, particularly the Vader one.
