Not anymore, but i do think the catholic church operated that way in the middle ages didn’t they? Or you just had to pay to go to heaven? 

I don’t think Scientology is labeled a cult because of their beliefs, but because of their actions - using required confessions against members, having members cut off family who don’t support the cult, harrassing ex-members and critics. 

This argument always comes up - that men don’t respond well to direct nos - which is absolutely true. But I really think the guys who don’t respond to direct nos well are also likely the ones that are going to ignore non-verbal cues and softer rejections and rape people. 

My impression he was well aware of his issues, but gave no indication of working on them. 

What indication was there that he was actively trying to work on his issues? The fact that he talked about it in his comedy? That’s not working on it.
