Has Bird ever publicly claimed to be an objectivist? Because looking at his films, the claim looks pretty damn spurious. Not every elitist is an objectivist. The nastiness of Rand’s philosophy isn’t so much the elitism as its ennobling of selfishness.

Not a complaint per se, but was very odd to have two episodes with no paranormal content...

Wow, I’m shocked at the grade you gave this. I was bored out of my mind; the show is about ghost hunters and named after the ghosts that are supposed to show up. I’m guessing they’re going to remain in that basement office for the rest of the season now?

“Uma? Hi, it’s Quent......Uh..Uma?

to be fair the problem with Runaways was that it focused on the parents instead of the kids. (also, instead of actually “Running Away” after finding out their parents were super villains they just... hung around for a whole season being indecisive)

Don’t put your glasses up your nose.

Back then, we figured “You get caught talking about sexually assaulting a woman on tape, there’s no way you could (for instance) become President.” So naive.

Back in my undergrad (we’re talking 2004 here), I lived next to a guy who was an extra in The Emperor’s Club (2002). His remembrance of his experience was, “Everyone on set was super cool. Except Emile Hirsch. Total Asshole.”

What is a video about oners in recent action films doing when it doesn’t mention that hotel fight from Atomic Blonde? That was like...7 solid minutes. Or more.

Also, to state the obvious-ish, that TLJ scene wasn’t at all a oner? I am baffled as to it’s inclusion.

The Marvel teen shows are...not good...Runaways burned me already..This looks like more of the same.

I noticed most of this the watched it in the theater; I found it hard not to notice how often the guards were not actually fighting or just walked onscreen, without even the usual mook chivalry to justify their gyrations that had nothing to do with trying to hit an opponent. The timestamped things required watching it

Huh? It’s almost impossible for a movie to succeed without a good editor.

And adds to the otherworldly quality! Wandering through a Vienna flooded with both water and Italians...

Always glad to see some Roeg love here. DLN isn’t my favorite Roeg film (that would be “Performance” by a country mile), but a fantastic watch nevertheless. I’d also wholly recommend Bad Timing, Walkabout, and of course, Man Who Fell To Earth.

also, those guards are often busy fighting invisible enemies, guarding themselves from non-existent attacks, and twirling like ballerinas to give the semblance of a “battle”.

“Even a film like The Last Jedi suddenly feels very real during those extended, expertly choreographed shots of the fight in Snoke’s throne room.”

Pretty sure that the opening scene in Avengers 2 was meant to be shot in a comic book style and it worked really well imho.

God I hope it’s much, much better than Runaways, which was just so tedious, despite all the best efforts of its mostly-talented cast.

Daredevil took too long to get going? Really? By the end of episode 1, we’ve been introduced to Matt Murdock’s supporting cast, at least 6 of the series’ villains (depending on how you want to count the 2nd Russian brother and Turk), gotten a partial explanation of DD’s origin and relationship with his father, and had
