However, decades later, when a much longer cut was released, opinions about the film changed, with some critics even lionizing Heaven’s Gate as a masterpiece.

Totally, utterly with you. This film is absolutely wonderful, with one of the most powerful yet understated last lines of any film I’ve seen in recent memory. Anyone who thinks the lead actress’s performance is lacking is just terribly uninformed. Between hers and the lead actress in Aftersun, we were treated to two

Sorry you missed all the significance of it.

How can you reboot Scooby Doo without Scooby Doo??? Nobody cares about Velma or really any of the other humans except for Shaggy. It’s like the He-man reboot that didn’t feature He-man... You want to tell stories about minority women, do it in an original story. Don’t try to bait and switch your shitty reboots on

The problem with Velma is that it sucks. It severely miscalculates the mean jokes to genuine emotion ratio, making everyone so intensely awful to each other than the moments of attempted sincerity feel empty and manipulative (Always Sunny has the good sense to not ask us to care about their plight). And the jokes are

I think the problem with Velma was just that it’s not actually good.

all this nepo baby stuff is bullshit, if your daddies a race car driver you might surprise surprise become a race car driver.  its not his fault you dont like him.

Anybody want to have the nepo-baby rap about Freddie Jr.? Let’s run it down:
1. Born to a famous person (extra points because he went out early and tragically)
2. Very very pretty
3. No other discernible talent
4. Married chick much famous-er than him
5. Always has more to say about...things

The show really seemed to struggle with cohesion with his absence.

Wasn’t there a time Whedon stepped away to focus on like, Firefly or Angel? I wonder how things were during that time.

So very bad. I assume that James Gunn probably watched it and realized how it made no sense. If the treatment for WW3 was more of that, doing something else with the character makes sense.

In addition to the pandemic release scheduling disaster of Wonder Woman 2, it also sucked.

What everyone forgets is that Rowling stood up for LGBTQI+ people. She allowed queer fan fiction (many authors do not allow fan fic of their works and issue copyright strikes) and when people suggested characters were a different race or sex or were queer (‘Lay Low at Lupins’), she was cool with it.

Mostly enjoyed the episode and the season, except for that meta-sequence. It didn’t hit me as cute but rather tone-deaf and lacking self-awareness. If you are contributing to something, something pretty bad, don’t make it into a bit. Fix it. You are pretty much the industry. Don’t make jokes about it, stop that

Gotta say, I did not expect the show to pull a Blazing Saddles with the ending and end up on the backlot. I agree with the critique that it undermined a season’s worth of character work though. It reminds me (in a bad way) of The Simpsons’ “The Principal and the Pauper”; it’s one thing to not take anything seriously,

And yet, we were content to give it a B- or better for every episode.

Yeah you can’t expect a professional pop culture reviewer to be familiar with a show about the Hulk when when reviewing a show about the Hulk.

Yeah, pointing out that some of the storylines from the previous 8 episodes were bad does not absolve them from being bad. Doesn’t matter how cute and meta it is.

“distracts from the story, which is that my life fell apart right when I was learning to be both Jen and She-Hulk. Those are my stakes, K.E.V.I.N.”

So she changed it from a bad ending to another bad ending. OKAY.
