I’m wondering if these layoffs aren’t part of an effort to clean house and get rid of some of the old guard so they can bring in a new round of hires that specialize in electrification.

I live in a major metro area, there are multiple dealers here for every make of car except maybe Ferrari.
I ran into this when I ended up buying my Focus ST. I went in to look at three cars: the Fiesta ST, the Focus ST and the Focus RS. I tested the RS first and had the car in “Track Mode”. The RS had me when I heard the anti-lag.
Imagine how much bigger they could be if their dealer network wasn’t so bad in the US.
You didn’t happen to work at a dealership chain that rhymes with Dodger Weasley, did you?
I can’t help but think of all the land some dealers own just to store inventory. But honestly a shrewd business owner should be thinking now about how to use those DC chargers as incentives for people to come to their dealership and oh by the way we have a full shopping plaza with restaurants etc while you charge. If…
If you were to explain dealers to a 6 year old they’d look at you like you’re insane.
I’d rather it go to the manufacturer who designed and built a desirable vehicle, than to a middle man who brings no value to the table.
One of the fun things about defenestration is that it links to history of the English Language and a not well known history of Europe.
Also, the fact that "Fenster" is the German word for window brings me additional joy...
Another trail of tears involving Cherokees.
Yes, to a large extent they have taken off. But I’m 59, and 30 years ago I didn’t think that I’d look around in traffic and see 95%+ of the surrounding vehicles still burning gasoline and diesel fuel.
With the crap that Gregg Abbott does the Texas GP should be gone too
It’d be a real shame if Ford spun Bronco off into a standalone company that could just sell vehicles right off the line at their assembly plant....totally a shame and they definitely shouldn’t just go ahead and do that....
Everyone here seems to want dealers destroyed so Im sure they are okay with the nefarious plot. They seem more than willing to buy at MSRP like an iphone and those pesky dealers are just standing in their way. They’ll point to current market adjustments and ignore that the manufacturers just stopped making the low…
Anyone who drives a decrepit old Jeep that belongs in the junkyard likely owns several of them.
New car prices are up 12% over the year. That’s an *average* of $4,872. What that means is that cars that aren’t in demand are seeing little to no increases, where cars in high demand are seeing much higher increases.
So China only, probably. US will get 5 different shades of silver and gray.
That Ariya is a cool color. I hope they offer it in production :o)
Neutral: The Taycan is amazing, imo. I see one here in my little town pretty regularly and i stare at it every time it drives by. Its a very striking car in a way that no Tesla approaches.
