Taller vehicles decrease safety
I think this is where a lot of the frustration from automotive journalism comes
So much this. I went to my local dealer to try to pre-order one of these, and they quoted me $30k for the no-options base model “$20k” version. And they wanted $5k of that immediately in order to make the order.
Reading this I thought, “I wonder if resellers will buy them all up and make it impossible to get one for retail like they’ve been doing everything else.” Then I remembered that’s called a dealership and now I’m kind of sad.
“Specs don’t tell the real story!”
Will be a pimped-up HR-V.
I’m gonna assume this will be an SUV/crossover until proven otherwise.
Is there anything in the press release to suggest it *won’t* be a 2 1/4 ton SUV which “honours and updates the ‘spirit’ of the original”?
To the comment section: If you want this to live, buy it new MFs. Don’t do it dirty like every other car that you claim to want, only buy used, and are shocked gets cancelled.
Waiting for Tim Higgins to get sued and get to use the excuse that the conversation was “simply heated rhetoric and not meant as a statement of fact.”
I forgive you. There is a valid point here the other commenters are overlooking, one I presume to minorities working in a colonialist and patriarchal world and to excel they have to become much, much better than their majority-looking colleagues. They cut through bullshit like a knife, and project an aura of pure…
My partner has indicated to me that this is definitely not the case.
I enjoyed giving you your star, then realized I’m an aging (aged) dude in flip flops, tank top, and board shorts. Love it, though!
In seriousness though, you can’t go wrong with a deep green paint and warp brown interior. That’s my favorite of these four limited editions
Remember when you could get colors other than black, white, another white, a slightly different white that’s kind of the same but even more slightly different white, grey, another grey, gray, “silver but actually gray”, and red?
I prefer it too, still too big for my tastes but I get the appeal for some, same with the Passport.
Yeah, I just can’t imagine why an American car buyer would want a large, comfy crossover, but might not need a third row and a fully maximized cargo area.
It’s just a shame that those beautiful colors are so often seen on trucks whose drivers you wish would drive them over a cliff
While it’s possible to leech off power from the main pack for low voltage accessories, it’s still more efficient to run off a separate pack as opposed to having to go through the main battery controller. Besides, I don’t see any reason why it doesn’t have to be a lithium ion pack instead of lead acid.
Part of the reason too is safety. When the car is off, or after an accident, the main high voltage battery is completely disconnected from the rest of the car (probably by those big white relays) to reduce the danger of electric shock. The car needs the 12V battery in order to boot the computers and energize the relays…
