You ment to say, “... nearing Big Sur” didn’t you? As that rock is about 2/3rd of the way there, heading South, from Carmel.

“Skip The Festival and for REAL FAST, fender to fender action, go the the Goodwood Revival, my boy!” a cheerful older Englishman used to tell me. RIP ‘uncle’ John...

If time is of the essence, there are a few great alternatives for your next journey.

Keep on trying to get your visa. The journey is worth it. Be in Monterey 3rd week preferably or a long weekend in August to be overwhelmed with cars...

My favorite saying, “Those who know, know... Those who don’t know, does not matter anyway!”

Having experienced The Festival in person, it’s a pretty great show, no doubt. But it, like many venues that become popular, it’s way too commercialized now, IMHO. Loved it in its early years much more.

NEITHER a weekend NOR mid-Summer but a mid-week in early Spring or Fall is the time to do Hwy 1 matters not which direction. Lord March, in the center, judging cars at 2012 Villa d’Este with Nick Mason, on the right...

Every year there is an unbelievably large and usually very intricate sculpture erected in front of Lord March’s residence, The Goodwod House. If you want to see more of them, ALL pretty INCREDIBLE, indeed, go and Google Goodwood Festival of Speed Sculptures Worth your while, no doubt...

Not drift but road race, perhaps? ;- ) Here at the famous Corcscrew turn at Laguna Seca...

Not to worry - it probably can only do two to five mph in real life, despite all that on-paper potential... Besides, it’s his problem if he does something silly, not yours... ;- )

Albeit not the Autostadt sample, but same idea ...
