DO NOT USE THE LAST ONE - get as many as you think you need, plus some extras, made. After all you are in Europe, a very capable part of the world as well, not in the middle of the Sahara desert... 😉
Or, like Alfa did - used their V12 F1 chassis, made a giant flat carbon fiber platform and set atop an Alfa 124 (if I remember correctly) four-door body made of carbon fiber! The car looked pretty stock from a distance. Only much too low and with huge F1 wheels. I have a picture somewhere of it, with the rear section…
Actually, it is not an impossibility, as PORSCHE R&D in Weissach, can certainly be contracted to do all kinds of research and development, if they take it on and there is enough money to be made on it. Walking through test cells, with eyes wide open, seeing various engines of other manufacturers being run, but not…
True, indeed! Germany, no doubt because of the strong car industry as well as rigorious drivers training, taking MONTHS of instructions and actual driving tests under all kinds of conditions, (not just having a drivers ed and taking a test at DMV by driving around a block or two a few times and parallel park to get a…
As Chris correctly said, Weissach is indeed very technical track. Guess that shirt got him back on good terms with Herr Hatz, the Chief of everything on that hill. For, after a less skilled jurno drove another very competent PORSCHE car on that track, from the beginnig of the straight, where the Racing Department…
Economy not as much as STRICTER EMISSION LAWS going into effect, most definitely.
When Subaru wanted a F1 engine, they went to a very accomplished Italian engine man Carllo Chitti. It was he, after his retirement from Alfa Romeo, who formed MOTORI MODERNI, which built a very potent flat 3.0L 12-cylinder for SUBARU. However, the F1 project was cancelled. Perhaps in favor of their later very serious…
YES, cool place to visit! A SPECTACULAR restoration to be sure! All it needs NOW is a 2L Carrera 4-cam! Wonder whether anyone ever attempted it. Did see a big bike and little original Fiat 500 with Fuhrmann engines but never a 912...
Should you wish to hear the Cayman/Boxter 4-cylinder NOW, scroll up to the original post and bellow it, on the right, is a link to a video with sound from the 4-cylinder being tested around the N-Ring. Pretty agreable sound, I must say.
Oh, forgot - #5. 906 GTS had crank-up and down door windows. 904 had a sliding door windows as can be seen in the Nürburgring photo above.
Interestingly, there were over 100 each (plus some spare bodies) of 904 GTS’ made. However, only _12_ each 906 GTS were constructed, of which but just over handful remain. Thus a very rare car indeed.
As long as SUBARU keeps building pretty incredible cars like this one, not only placing 1st in its class at this past weekend’s 24-Hour race at the Nürburgring, but even more impresively, being the 1st after the ALL MIGHTY CLASS that dominated the N24. Surely SUBARU has NOTHING to be embarrassed about, IMHO.
Quite obviously, you must not have driven the Macan to make such a statement. Go test drive it first, please. If you have driven the Cayenne, will be AMAZED how good the Macan really is, no doubt.
I still stand behind seconding your motion bellow... However, did you realize the photo above is actually NOT the 1964 PORSCHE 904 GTS the Fuhrmann-designed 2xOHC 4-cylinder was traditionally installed? Yes, it almost looks like one to the casual observer but not to a trained eye. For, not so obviously, it is actually…
