Put me down as one of those who think “Hot Rats” is the most accessible album, and as a result, his best. “In the Year 2525" is some real miserable hippie crap in an era full of other forgettable hippie crap.
“Father of Mine” is more tolerable than the sound of Art Alexakis hugging and telling himself he’s okay in “Wonderful.”
“MacArthur Park’s” dumb, dumb, dumb lyrics and overly melodramatic melody will never be forgiven.
I really want to like them in the context that their albums are largely fine, and Kurt Vile’s gone on to make stuff that’s even better than WOD’s current output.
