That’s the thing ... being a racial minority in this country often puts you automatically in the “undesirable” category even if you have a PHD from Harvard and a house in the Hamptons.

That fact just annoys me because this is the sort of thing minorities have been pointing out to supposedly decent white people for I dunno? Forever? And people rarely listen.

Yeah, I don’t know how he justifies that.

I might be missing something here, but does it say anywhere when/where the full video will be released? The promise of all that hidden-camera footage is enticing, and the trailer is frustratingly short.

See, I live in North Dakota, and none of this is local. So in my social circles (which also run quite lefty) it’s less “preserve our history!!!” and more “eh, I don’t really care, but do they have to break historical stuff? I like history.”

Ah, that is interesting. Probably different social circles (mine runs to nerdy gamers and hippie moms). People I know are fine with trashing white supremacy, but get nostalgic about history and art, so they hear “removing statues” and wince instinctively.

Are there any reasoned takes out there from Bernie fans? Like, I was one, and my basic take on the whole thing is “Hillary was OK, but I’d have been a lot more enthusiastic if she’d spent more time yelling about poverty and economic injustice and how we need to raise taxes on the rich, like he did.”

Or the rich old white person who bought his body and left him in the sunken place ....

I knew a guy who lost his (unprotected) iPhone. They accepted all Facebook friend requests and posted a bunch of stupid shit like “im gay.” No racism.

I find it helps to point out that most of these statues are mass-produced, and are not only not really history, they are not really art, either.

I googled this because I’ve been wondering about Spencer for some time, and ran into this story about the two, which is pretty interesting:

Makes sense. Or make it clear that the alt-right is a type of white supremacist and not a whole different animal. So “the rally was attended by a variety of racist shitheads white supremacists, including the alt-right, neo-Nazis, Christian Identity groups and Sheriff David Clarke.”

Yeah, but there are still modern white supremacists who are into Christian Identity and who are all about traditional “moral values” (i.e. anti-woman and anti-gay bullshit). I think it’s important to differentiate them to some extent, in order to understand group dynamics and recruiting techniques.

“Our original vision was the alt-right would become like a policy group for the Trump administration,” he said on-camera. Jorjani, the roommate of noted white person who was punched in the face, Richard Spencer, said they had people inside the White House and “the interface was Steve Bannon.”

Because they’re different phenomena. The alt-right is distinct from the traditional white supremacist groups, which are often affiliated with “Christian Identity” (i.e. Christian white supremacy) and traditionalist values. The alt-right is younger and often more socially libertarian on issues that aren’t racial. In

Pretty much, yeah. If your true feelings don’t include racist bullshit, alcohol can’t produce it. See: Mel Gibson.

Read this and mentally added “this article” to your list.

If he were a celebrity, the next step would be rehab. Because alcohol magically makes racist bullshit come out of your mouth.

Can’t figure out as clever a way to phrase it, but there’s a similar phenomenon wherein white women think they can’t ever be the oppressor because they’re the real victims.

Isn’t it an actual thing that long periods of running can make you very suddenly need to poop, though?
