Poodletime II: the Return of Poodletime

Second the recommendation to take them to the vet. I’ve had more than one cat start peeing outside the box because of UTI’s and kidney problems.

Without wanting to be the more negative voice in this threat, I do feel strongly about this: do not move in with him unless you’re engaged or pregnant. Ever hear “why would he buy the cow when he can get the milk for free?” I KNOW it’s a gross, offensive saying, BUT, here’s the thing, the underlying idea holds, except

I had my first kid at 36 and my second at 40. Both were conceived the “old-fashioned” way, with less than 3 months of “trying” for the first one and as a total mistake the second time. You are not a statistic!

I got married at 40, got pregnant right away, and gave birth to a healthy baby girl at 41 with no complications! :)

My mom was 39 when she had my sister. Agreed with above, you are not a statistic. Maybe stop dwelling on the timeline in terms of moving in together first vs getting engaged first? I think moving in together is a huge step towards an engagement, not an in between period really. And definitely not a step back, at all.

Counterpoint: WE are the normal ones!

Seconding

I’m laughing because of that image, which actually made me feel better. Thank you!

You’re not a statistic! You are you and there is still time!

it could be a sign of urinary problems like crystals in the urinary tract (i have a male cat who went through this when he was younger, changed his food and the problem went away.) i would take him to the vet. if it is crystals you can treat it by changing his food to something with a higher ash content. the vet

Don’t stress about it Holly, you really have like innumerable ways to acquire a family and you’re just 33 so your eggs aren’t about to imminently liquefy and blow out your asshole. Hope you figure something out and can de-stress.

Is he declawed? Cats often pee on clothes when it hurts to stand in litter, and this is really common among declawed cats. You can try wheat litter; that is much softer on paws. Cats will also pee outside their box if they have a UTI because they associate being in the box with pain. A trip to the vet is definitely in

Happy B-day Jezebellians(?)

my cat growing up peed on stuff when his literbox was in anyway compromised - like if something new was put too close to it or I changed the liter to a different brand. If he just recently started doing it, maybe look for things that changed and switch it back?

I agree. Thank you Jezebel for supporting a place where us weirdos can come together and have a good time. I appreciate it all so much.

I’m so sorry to hear that. I’d be devastated if I had to give away one of my pets. I have no advice, but can send you internet hugs.

He needs to go to the vet first, to see if he can be helped. Please do this!

10 years ago was FIFTH GRADE? Fuck I am old and have accomplished nothing. Take me out back and shoot me now.

I got my cat 10 years ago and now my mom is making me give him away because he’s peeing on clothes. (I live with her). I’m really classically depressed about it and can’t get out of bed.

Friends, thank you for all the support and community these past eight years.
