Saving billionaires from themselves.
Saving billionaires from themselves.
This is even stranger to me because I have worked extensively with North Koreans who are not defectors, but (adult) students. I worked with several of them for a couple of years, teaching them about satellite remote sensing and geoinformatics. They certainly weren’t rich, considering they had to go back to the…
The stories were amazing, and the detail they went into was positively Thoreauvian. What also surprised me was that a big, glossy magazine was recommending confiscatory taxes. It was a surprising and illuminating read, and it has stayed with me for many years.
I think it’s supposed to be Wons instead of USD which would translate to roughly $12k which sounds a lot more realistic.
Feh, and objectivists INSIST that taxation is theft. Well, you can’t take it with you, either.
“Tokyo By Night” rears its ugly design head once again. Honestly, it’s like a vampire character in a bad novel — just when you are sure it’s dead, it comes back!!!!
Damn Elon, take it easy. Go launch a rocket or something the world’s still spinning.
SMH. Good to see that typical Jalopnik rage is still a thing.
Absolutely correct, this was a design decision driven by production economics. That does not mean that it cannot also be a really good decision.
It’s from the same school of minimalism that gave us thermostats that have one or two elegant buttons that have to be hit 35 times in the right sequence to set the temperature for every six hour period of the entire week, when all you want is to turn the heat or air up or down a degree or two.
The use of central screens plus TFT or whatever they are screens in front of the driver does not bode well for cheapskates who buy used cars or just want to drive their car until the end of its reasonable life span (guilty).
The reason that they did that wasn’t for cool or art’s sake, although cars before the 30's were similar. The reason was cheapness - the same dash could be used for British and export markets.
That’s why they have auto pilot,
It’s still a shitty design whether or not any of us actually ordered one.
Their attempt at minimalism means all of the basic controls and gauges are crammed into a single touchscreen that’s impossible to use without taking your eyes off the road. Absolutely atrocious.
“In the Tiki-Tiki-Tiki-Tiki- Tiki Room, in the Tiki-Tiki-Tiki-Tiki- Tiki Room.
Great minds think alike!
Stop wearing your chain wallet in the car, dude.
So all the controls will all be on that one screen. If the screen fails your car is undriveable.
And even if they did do stuff with it...
