Shoulder dystocia or cord compression, potentially. Presumably not what was going on here though.

They added a third section to the SAT in the early 2000s so max is now 2400 not 1600. 1180 now is like 780 then. Combined.

No that’s false. Most people who are deterred from suicide or make nonfatal attempts do not go on to die by suicide. Impulsivity is one of the most important factors in suicide attempts. When effective methods are easily available, suicide rates are higher. When effective methods are less available, rates drop. This

1. Your right to self defense with military grade weaponry is paid for by the blood of innocents. I just don’t understand in what moral universe that can possibly be OK.

1. So the theoretical right to defend oneself with an assault weapon outweighs the large excess of deaths that results from people exercising this unmitigated right?

1. Gun ownership balloons the risk that the owner himself or a family member will be killed. Self defense is a myth, the numbers don’t support it.

Nope but it figures cuz you sound just like my husband. I Am Everywife!! Raaarrgh

Tidying and cleaning are different. The cleaning lady can’t clean surfaces that are full of stuff, and she can’t put the stuff away herself because it’s not her house and she doesn’t know where it goes. (And also it’s not her job because she is the cleaning lady, not the tidying lady.)

Really you can do Sat but not Sun? Sat is way harder IME, Sun isn’t really usually complicated it’s just so big I get bored and run out of steam.

By 8 and 11 it’s normal to sleep through the night regardless of what sleep approach was used in infancy.

What if you only wear makeup for special occasions? We should buy a whole new set of products for every use? I can’t get behind that. I had the same eyeshadow palette for seven years. I maybe used it ten times. Then I dropped it on the floor so I got a new one, which I expect to have for another seven years or so.

Oh dear God yes. The caterpillar eyes are so bizarre and distracting looking. I guess they look good on camera but I’m so confused by this idea that they are appropriate for daily wear.

No it’s worse with your own because it is relentless. I was always very patient and sympathetic about other people’s screaming children. After seven years of it, listening to my own makes me want to slit my throat some days.

Oh I have a good one! So my second kid was a precipitous labor and we didn’t make it to the hospital on time. She shot out in my bathtub at home and we called EMS for a ride in. Baby was totally fine. She had already had a snack and a nap by the time we got to the hospital.

Ha ha, I didn’t either. Baby had other plans.

Way less gross than a bunch of bloody chux pads like in the hospital IMO. I had the sprayer running, there was maybe a cm or two of bloody amniotic fluid on the floor of the tub but it mostly washed away.

Overall I’d agree with you on Tuteur not usually being very evidence based, but this article is actually a pretty rational analysis of the available data, unlike some of the biased rants I’d seen on her blog. I think she’s evolved.

Actually I think Tuteur strikes a much more reasonable and evidence-based tone in this article than she typically has on her blog. In the past she was vehemently opposed to home birth of any stripe and made a lot of unreasonable attacks on the many published studies (all non-US) that had found it to be safe. I’m glad

I delivered my second kid in the bathtub. Cleanup was a snap (actually the EMT did it, bless his heart).
