But bad anorexia is super impairing. All that perfectionism gets focused on body weight, they’re in and out of hospitals, taking leaves from school, fighting with their families. Not much energy left for getting an education and a job.

Comments like this make me cry. I am so sorry you have to raise your babies in this shitty kind of world. :( :( :(
I used a diaphragm in college. I didn’t like it. You have to use it with spermicide which smells weird and sometimes stings. I found it unpleasant to insert and remove as well, especially if slightly raw post sex. I definitely preferred condoms to the diaphragm, which BTW doesn’t offer STD protection either.
Yes but lack of calories is rare in the US, precisely because of the availability of high calorie, non-nutritive food. What’s common is the combination of obesity and micronutrient malnutrition. Chips contribute to that problem but vegetables fix it.
mirena is levonorgestrel only ( a synthetic progesterone), no estrogen. That said, I'd guess progestogens could also be disruptive to fish fertility, although perhaps in different ways than estrogens.
My grandma taught me that when I was twelve. "Just say thank you." Best advice ever. Being weird about compliments just makes the complimenter feel weird too, and then everyone feels weird and there is no way to move on gracefully. Thank you gets it all over with quickly.
Yeah I'd tackle this early on. By age 23 I was bringing it up within the first couple of dates. I still ended up in a longish term relationship with someone who knew he never wanted kids (I knew I did) but we both knew there was an expiration date on that relationship. He was (is) fantastic but we both ended up…
we have a standing toilet paper delivery order with Amazon. Works great!
How about investing in some handkerchiefs? They work better and are reusable after a wash.
... And blame the victims.
yeah but in the West at least the government officials and others in power don't explicitly support the rapsts and
Actually any woman who has given birth is likely to be a chimaera. Fetal cells have been found in many tissues (including the brain), even years after the birth. It's macroscopic chimerism that is rare.
Those are ineffective methods you're using. Rewards and threats don't work because they imply a choice: the kid can choose to obey or choose to accept the punishment. That's not the message you want to send. What's wrong with physically keeping the child in time out?
He's six. It's normal. Good and important to let him know lying is not acceptable, but probably not helpful to become a ball of rage.
Does this apply only to people with light hair?? I have espresso coloured hair and light olive skin and if I put mascara on one eye but not the other they don't look noticeably different.
Yes, exactly. People who judge everyone else assume everyone else is doing the same, and thus are constantly terrified of being judged themselves. That's exhausting. But if you can let go of the urge to judge others, you can simultaneously let go of the anxiety about others potentially judging you. It's a…
If he had a mild case without scarring or long-term sequelae, I think it's a toss-up really between vax and post-infection immunity for this particular vaccine. Chance of shingles is higher than post-vaccine (yes you can get shingles from the vaccine as well as the full-strength virus, though the risk is much lower…
By the way, I believe Angela Merkel has no children, and the situation for working mothers in Germany is particularly horrible, because the culture frowns on the idea of a mother working outside of the home.
Political arenas tend to be the exception to this rule because of quotas. In other areas like business, science, etc., women are generally better represented at the upper levels in the US. I'm not sure I agree with you that 1 year out of work is insignificant. Perhaps it depends on your field. In mine it would be…
I'm right there with you on need for longer, paid maternity leave and better childcare (because these will be better for *children*); but need to be the grinch and point out that nations with more generous maternity leave policies tend to have *fewer* women, not more, in leadership positions. Basically the huge hit…
