Hey! Former UNH library employee here too. I used to work with Bob. He was a sweet, kooky dude who used to love to give all the young kids book recommendations and he always remembered what we liked and what we didn’t like. I swear I mentioned Brideshead Revisited to him one time and he talked to me about Evelyn

I love reading and contributing to Jezebel, but I’m not going to give Anna Merlan my entire life savings and cat.

This is how I took that part of the story: he ended his life in an assisted living facility. I doubt highly that he had any control over what he was watching and learned all those stats out of boredom because his mind was clearly into that sort of thing and what else could he do?

I feel so sorry for Morin who probably thought that putting restrictions on all of his donation would be harmful to the school. I get the sense he really wanted to help higher education in a substantive way, and he assumed the school would want to help students in a time where higher education is bearing the brunt of

I have worked with the UNH library before, for my job. I can assure you that they are amazing and also desperately in need of funds, as are most university libraries. This is a horrible decision and UNH deserves all the public shame they are receiving over it.

I mean we could work on not alienating people within our own country based on their cultural/ethnic/religious identities. It won’t 100% prevent things like this but it might make people less vulnerable to being radicalized or whatever. We’re currently not doing a great job of being inclusive at all. the discourse

That’s because that is ISIS modus operandi. They don’t plan or finance attacks they look to inspire them with propaganda. It’s what makes them so dangerous.

For those who are wondering about Charlie Bear’s health and/or comfort, the linked story mentions the bride and groom are both veterinarians. I think he had a good time.

It looks funny in pictures, but he might have a bad back or something. Or, she picked up the dog, and that was that.

Somehow the fact that the bride and groom were both veterinarians who both agreed how important it was to have the dogs as part of the wedding made it more touching for me.

After looking at the pictures you can read the article.

Honestly, when people complain about cyclists flouting the law, I ask them how often they stay under the speed limit. it is approximately never.

OTOH, cars will kill you, and bicycles won’t.

I am astonished at all the anti-bikers here. Not the people anti-assholes-on-bikes because I am in total agreement there. But people who don’t think riding bikes for fun is a thing. It’s really fun! Quicker than walking! Great on a campus! Easy to park! All these things. Biking is fun. You guys are weirdos.

I only ride bikes on trails and side streets because YOU SUCK AT DRIVING YOU MOTHERFUCKER!

To each their own. I bike commuted for years when i worked in Central and Kendall Squares, Cambridge. My favorite part was having people swerve their cars around me*, yelling and swearing**, as they rushed home to get to the gym.

And yes, my thighs were MASSIVE and yes, i loved it.

*I was in the legal bike lane.

As a bike rider, I want you to know that every car I’ve ever seen on the road has been just picture perfect. Stop at every light. Never roll through a stop sign. Always signal for lane changes, and of course, I never see any drivers playing with their phones or swerving around in the lanes.

Yes, we know that you guys wish cyclists dead. When Gawker posted about a cyclist in NYC being purposefully mowed down and killed the entire comment section was people complaining how awful cyclists. No one was horrified by the fact that a man was murdered. I’ve since decided the people who hate cyclists are just

Didn’t bike riders save the woman from Convicted Rapist Brock Turner’s “action?”
