Exactly, you have a control to turn on the unit (a button(s), knob, etc.). A warming drawer is not going to magically get warm without turning it on. It has it’s own heating element and is insulated from the oven above it.

You know how you can tell if your range has the warming drawer option rather than a standard storage drawer? A range with a warming drawer will have its own control to operate its own heating element on the control panel. No control to turn it on? Not a warmer.
