All of that said, I don’t think Tammy Duckworth is the postermommy for that narrative.

It was a direct response to Aly saying that as youths they had reached out to “adults” but no one had listened. The judge was reflecting back to Aly, so that Aly would know she was heard. Also, abuse victims have a hurt child in them that truly does need to be addressed, maybe not on TV from a judge, but it is a huge

Too bad, Larry. That´s one aspect of the whole point of victim impact statements. You need to understand and feel the full breadth of what your actions sowed, even though words really can´t express what survivors go through, for much more than a few hours for a couple of days might I add. We get to deal with the pain
