I read it the same way as you. Humanism is great. Feminism is an important component of humanism. Humanism is a general process of thought and behavior, while feminism is using those behaviors specifically to combat sexism.

I feel like there are so many feminist stakeholders and they all want something different out of feminism. I’m not sure how willing they are to fight for all things under the third wave umbrella. Maybe it’s not only the celebrities who are doing this pick and choose grocery shop feminsm, maybe it’s all of us.

I agree. I’ll make fun of someone who has silly reasons for not identifying as a feminist (e.g. “I’m not a feminist because I don’t hate men”) but it sounds like she might be saying feminism can exclude women of color and LGBT women, which is a pretty decent reason not to use the term.

Out of the rumored actors up for the PP role, Hugo/Ender sort of stuck out as the obvious selection. Both in terms of pedigree and look. I would have been surprised to hear that the studios didn’t have him as their first choice.

I did like the way she got stuck with SuperGIRL by a media with its own agenda.

I watched the trailer and immediately got a bad taste in my mouth from the whole rom-com feel of it, but after seeing this fan reedit of the trailer I’m thinking maybe CBS just promoted it the wrong way to me. Here’s hoping at least.

Actually, Josie and the Pussycats was kind of subversive and brilliant. It was a hell of a lot smarter than it had any business being, that’s for sure.

That's a really lovely thing to do. I am sure it has had a meaningful impact on them as well as on you, and I'm glad to know there are people like you living in the world.

It is a wonderful legacy to be able to carry on. I personally relish my current role of Cool Aunt, as well as being a supportive friend for moms I know who could use an extra hand sometimes.

If I ever do have kids, I certainly hope that is the case. I’ve had some great examples in my life from which to learn. In the meantime I’ll stick to mothering the shit out of my friends who need it.
