I too am a Kylie fan and always liked this but Sam Brown did it first, albeit in a less flashy way! Also I’m sure the Bee Gees have a Barbarella-inspired video which came out after Kylie’s (I think). Can’t remember the song though...

Yep as someone has already said, it’s Barbarella. One of my favourite films but I have genuine trouble watching that scene because it terrifies me (and has since I saw it at far too young an age!)

I think that was once true, but then Deadpool was released in February and was a huge success. Between that and the August release of the first Guardians, I guess studios are more willing to release in the “riskier” months now.

There is a reveal/explanation in the film about Zeus which kinda gives the reason for them using him as the one who brought her to life.

I saw the film last night and OBVIOUSLY I didn’t get emotional AT ALL.

Just give me the box, Marty!

Yaaas! I have a friend who once said to me that I have no guilty pleasures because my music taste is everyone else’s guilty pleasures :) I can’t argue with that.

Yeah it’s a difficult one.. My first thought was “great, we see a more diverse group on screen” but then it is in danger of hand-waving away the horrors of white supremacy and that’s not a great trade-off.

Yeah I suppose I sound a bit dismissive about them kind of erasing the ‘white supremacy’ issue from the story, which I didn’t really mean. BUT I guess what I was thinking is that’s only one part of it. I’ve just re-read the book in preparation for the new adaptation and the issue of race is certainly in it, but I

Dear Emmys,

The Peanuts movie came out last December (in the UK anyway) and I’m sure it did well enough against Star Wars, so yeah that’s a good shout.

I wonder that too - I just mentioned in another comment that I wonder if the Harry Potter series has overshadowed Dahl as THE ultimate children’s books...

Yeah I was surprised by the comments on here saying that they were unfamiliar with the book. When I was a kid growing up in the 80s, Roald Dahl books were huge and BFG certainly wasn’t one of the lesser known ones. I had all his children’s books and wasn’t unusual for that. And, like you say, they were a big part of

Ah Krull! There’s a film that doesn’t get mentioned enough. I have a great fondness for it, but that’s almost certainly just childhood nostalgia. The Neverending Story isn’t braw either but again, it holds a place in my heart.

All the stars for Xanadu! It’s my very favourite film, it’s so gloriously terrible. Sadly I didn’t get to see it in the cinema, for it was released the year I was born.

Also big love for Roller Boogie. I was actually disappointed that it had a full storyline (of sorts) and an ending that made sense. Xanadu has none of

Yeah.... I mean I enjoy Agents of Shield for what it is, but Agent Carter wipes the floor with it, in my opinion.

I feel that way about the book. I recorded the series with the intention of watching it when I’m done with the book but I’m finding it a bit of slog. So many people recommended it to me and I thought the subject matter would be right up my street but... No. I want to finish it because I’ve started but that may take me
