Yeah, if you price it against the base GTI’s the price difference is astounding. It’s almost to pickup truck levels of base to premium price difference. After pricing them both the R was just too much more money to logically make sense for us. It’s a nice package, for sure, but so is the GTI.
The mk7.5 Golf R is all screen too. Still the same layout as the mk7s and still has a volume knob, but no old school gauges to be found.
Go and price them and you will see a very different story.
The Golf R has had a fully digital dash for a while now. Given that they sell them for over 10k what the GTIs go for, for quite frankly, not that much more car - then it must not be too off putting.

In my experience you end up with 10x the amount for 1/2 the price. Great if it fits the projects, not so awesome if not.
I did vinyl plank in my car and that crap was HEAVY. Not as many boxes though.
