the wii had a pretty good launch line-up from memory. Zelda, Zakk and Wiki, Warioware and Wii Sports kept me entertained for quite a while.

It does tend to be as much about the gimmick as anything else in japan. Not that it's much different anywhere else. just look at any top 40 star in america.

Indie just means independant, ie a band unsigned, or not signed to a major label. especially in japan. I know it has folky overtones in america.

yes, but that's the point. it's not pre-rendered CG, it's on the fly video, the vague equivalent of in-game footage, minus all the calculations they'd have to put aside for AI and whatnot.
