My theory on that scam is that if it takes a really long time, they’ll be able to make off with the money and sever ties with their account before you complain. Then Amazon is unfortunately left to eat the cost of the non-existent item.

I’ve tried out a few of the “just launched” sellers with “too good to be true” prices. In every case where they never shipped, Amazon never charged my card. And if you have a problem with a third-party seller, Amazon is good about making it right.
