It’s a shame they had to go with cake, since their banana pudding — which they have seasonally near me — is great and very authentic, but I suspect there are large parts of the country that were baffled by the idea of getting pudding from Popeye’s, where they wouldn’t respond the same way to cake.

Anyone who hasn’t seen his Netflix special with Martin Short (itself just a filmed version of their long-running two-man touring show) should do so ASAP. It’s a delight and you can really see that they’ve been friends for decades. And it will make you a banjo believer.

I think he knows that he’s had decades of trying to connect with the public and has mostly succeeded in boring them to death. He’ll be just as mad at Amazon if they make this material approachable and engaging.
